We trust that the holiday break provided an opportunity to rest, spend time together as a family, and recharge for the term ahead. As we reflect on the many successes of Term 2, we are grateful for the enthusiasm, resilience, and growth demonstrated by our students across so many areas of school life.
One of the standout highlights of last term was the musical production, Dot and the Kangaroo JR. Students shone as they brought this iconic Australian story to life through their acting, singing, dancing, and teamwork. The production showcased not only remarkable talent but also the perseverance, dedication, and collaboration of our students and staff.
We extend our sincere thanks to everyone who contributed behind the scenes and supported the production's success. A special thank you goes to Mrs Nikki Meinel, who has a remarkable talent for noticing each child and enabling them to flourish, giving them the confidence to showcase their unique talents. We would also like to thank the parents who dedicated their time to assisting with the construction of the sets. It was a wonderful example of what can be achieved when our community works together.
Academically, Term 2 was filled with purposeful learning and strong student engagement. Across all our classrooms, students embraced challenges, developed new skills, and continued to grow in confidence as learners. As we move into Term 3, we look forward to building on these solid foundations, maintaining high expectations, and continuing to nurture curiosity, creativity, and a love of learning.
Healthy Lunchboxes for Active Learners
This term, we would also like to encourage families to take a moment to consider the foods being packed in their children's lunchboxes. Nutritious foods provide the energy students need to focus, learn, and participate fully in the school day.
We are noticing that some students are consuming high levels of sugar through snacks and drinks, which can lead to energy spikes and crashes. This can impact concentration, learning, and students' overall wellbeing. We understand the temptation to include a treat in lunchboxes; however, we encourage you to keep treats for home, as they are not necessary for school.
When preparing lunchboxes, please consider including snacks that are nutritious, filling, and lower in added sugars. Some healthy options include:
Wholegrain sandwiches, wraps, or pita pockets
Water remains the best drink for keeping students hydrated throughout the day.
By making small adjustments to lunchbox choices, families can help support healthy habits that contribute positively to children's learning, wellbeing, and long-term health.
Looking Ahead in Term 3

What an incredible performance of Dot & the Kangaroo last term. Junior School students from Foundation to Year 6 shone on stage, showing energy, vocal talent and acting skills. Well done to the main cast for putting in the practise to memorise lines and to you, our parents, who volunteered to create costumes and sets.
To purchase a video recording of the Musical, you can order online via the Qkr app, email spstudentservices@emmauscc.sa.edu.au or purchase at the Student Services window in person. USB recordings are $15 each.
