Sport Report
Regional Cross Country Running Championships
Don't let the blue sky or shorts and t-shirts fool you. Weather conditions had runners fighting a strong and very cold wind to complete a 3km or 5km course last Friday.
Mount Beauty Secondary College presented a team of speedy athletes, who demonstrated grit while running and team spirit when cheering on their peers. The atmosphere at Regionals was fun; runners were happy with their PB's, super fast times on the clock, making it to this round of competition, or buying the infamous hoody. Eddy, Alec, Carmela, Baylin and Harri have qualified for State Championships next term.
Lunch Netball
The lunch time netball series wrapped up last week with a hard fought final game. Thanks again to Kate for organising the competition, and to all students who participated.
Mountain Biking
Hamish R recently represented Mount Beauty Secondary College in Round 1 of the AusCycling MTB Schools Series in Dromana. Hamish placed 1st in the U15s! Congratulations and thankyou for travelling all that way to compete for our school.
Interschool Sport
Years 7 through to 11 have been out and about this week playing badminton, netball, and soccer (Junior, Intermediate and Senior Sport). Students have reported the following:
- We had lots of fun, we played well against all teams.
- The team improved throughout the day and showed how well we could work together.
- In Junior Badminton, Emily won all her games except for one.
- Junior Soccer players did well with limited numbers. The team showed good passing and calling skills. Lincoln showed good skills.
- Intermediate netballers faced tough opponents. It was good to see the team lift their skills and play consistent games.
- The Senior Netball team came home in good spirits after a fun day.
- Massimo joined another school to make numbers for a team. He dominated to win all except for one of his games.
- The Intermediate Badminton (female) team, made it though to the finals to come runners up. The final game was very close, with all players maintaining their Mount Beauty spirit - playing their best and showing excellent sportsmanship.
- The more experienced Year 8 netballers were really supportive towards the girls who had never played before.
- At Year 7 Netball, the ones that play netball took the lead and helped others where needed.
