Division Cross-Country

On Friday we (Mac, Harry and I) travelled down to Benalla to represent MBPS at

the Division Cross-Country.

When we arrived, I felt nervous. We spoke together and then Smithy’s race

started and we all cheered him on.

Half an hour later my race started. My strategy was to stay with a fast runner

and a big pack at the start, but I didn’t get the best start. I was coming around

21st and there was a big loop to run next. On the way back I sprinted… and I

thought ‘My Mum’s going to be so happy if I get in the top 12 for her birthday

today’… so I tried even harder!

But then another kid kept cutting me off so I just tried even harder. We went

around the oval and the 3 boys were right behind me. Then in the last 200metres

I heard cheering and so I sprinted o/ to the 4nish line.

In the end I came 11th.

I felt like I was going to pass out. My legs were so sore

and we were all puffng but that showed that we’d put everything into this race.

When they were counting the racers, I thought I was 13th… but I came 11th

 I felt so great.

I completed my 3km run in 11 minutes which is my personal best so far! I was so

proud of myself. There were even about 80-90 in my race!

I can’t wait now for State in Melbourne… I’m going to have to keep training harder.
