Sports News

Athletics

The school Athletics Carnival will be held at the Bill Rose Oval, Scone, on Friday 21 June. We look forward to an enjoyable and successful day and welcome parents to attend. All students have received a Compass notification with further details and permission to be completed. Students in Years 7-10 have been practising their field events during PE classes. The students will compete to qualify for the Diocesan Athletic Carnival on Wednesday 21 August.

Netball

We are currently conducting trials for the 7/8, 9/10 and 11/12 girls netball teams to compete next term at the Diocesan Gala Day, the Upper Hunter Division of the NSW Netball Cup at Singleton and NSWCCC in Sydney. Teams will be finalised next week. We will also be selecting boys teams for the Singleton competition.

Sport Choices

Sport choice selection notes will be issued next week. It is important that students select carefully for their Term 3 sport. There are a number of paying and non-paying sports. Our Year 10 students will be involved in the Sports Fun program at Aberdeen Public School and St James' Muswellbrook. All choices are to be returned so as to complete choices on Monday 24 June.

Compass Notifications

It is most important that students regularly check Compass for ALL SPORT notes and information. Please ensure you are checking regularly.

Basketball

On Tuesday 11 November, the Opens Boys Basketball team travelled to Maitland to compete in the NSW Basketball School Tournament. The boys had an intimidating start to a very well-drilled and tall Avondale School, they unfortunately lost to them. The team bounced back well and continued undefeated for the rest of the day, finishing third overall. They came together well as a team showing great improvement as the day went on. For a team who doesn’t have a lot of basketball experience they showed great promise and represented the school well. We look forward to seeing what this team can produce in the future.

Picking up students on Thursdays

If you need to pick up your child/children on Thursdays after 1pm, please advise the Front Office before 1pm by phone 6543 7444 or via email admin@aberdeen.catholic.edu.au , so your son/daughter can attend the non-sport room. With various sports off site, it is sometimes difficult and time consuming trying to locate students being picked up. If students wait in the non-sport room, it is much quicker to locate them and call them to the office for pick-up.
