Library News

On Wednesday 12 June our library participated in Middle Schools Day where students in Years 5 and 6 came to experience high school for a day. The library offered sessions to students from different primary schools. Over the course of forty minutes each group of students were given a library orientation, shown how to locate library material including fiction and non-fiction titles. Finally, students were sent on a scavenger hunt to find items within the library. Everybody had an enjoyable time.
The Premier’s Reading Challenge (PRC) is popular with our students. The PRC is not a competition but a challenge for each student to read more widely. The program involves 400,000 students and more than 2,600 government, non-government, and home schools. The PRC booklists open doors to a rich collection of children’s literature representing a range of books, including fiction, non-fiction, picture books, poetry, and a wide variety of Australian authors.
Successful candidates will receive a certificate if they read twenty books, including up to ten books of their own choice.
Please email Mr Boyce andrew.boyce@mn.catholic.edu.au if you wish to register. The library has a range of PRC titles available for loan.
The NRL Footy Tipping competition has proven to be quite competitive. After Round Fourteen there is a change at the top of the leaderboard. Tips can be filled out at the library by 3.15pm on Thursday's or emailed before kick-off Thursday night.
