Borrowing

As next week (Week 9) is the Athletics Carnival on Monday morning, students will come to the library on either Monday afternoon or Tuesday. Please still bring books and library bags on Monday and Tuesday.

Due to the Stage 2 excursion today, Stage 2 will come to library on Tuesday.

The library is also open every lunchtime, Monday to Friday, and children are welcome to come on any day to return and borrow books.

In Week 10 children will borrow for the holidays but will not be able to borrow until they have no overdue books.

Premier's Reading Challenge 2024

K-2 students

To complete the challenge students in K-2 must read or have read to them 30 x PRC books.

The K-2 teachers and I will read enough books to the children, and I will enter their reading record, so that all K-2 students will receive a certificate at the end of the year.

3-6 children

3-6 children have been very busy listing down each book they have read or directly entering the books onto the PRC website.

Over 100 children have now completed their challenge and had it validated. Congratulations to those children. In the next weeks many more children should be able to complete their lists.

3-6 children can read and enter their books immediately on the PRC site. This is an electronic record of the 20 books they read. They can do this during their library lesson or at home as they read books.

How to log PRC books read

There are 2 ways to enter the PRC Site.

Google – ‘Premier’s Reading Challenge’ or ‘PRC NSW’ and be directed to the site.

Or

Log in to your student portal and select either the ‘My School Library’ or ‘PRC’ icon to be directed to the site -

Once on the site students need to

  • Check they are logged on.
  • Select ‘Student Reading Records’ from the left-hand side.
  • Begin to enter books.

Electronic records close in early August and students will receive their official certificate from the Premier at the end of Term 4.

All 3-6 classes are being shown how to log on to the PRC site in their library lesson this week and in coming weeks.

Please remember that books for the challenge do not need to only come from our school library. They can be books from other libraries, home, the classroom, bookstores etc.

If you would like to know more about the Premier’s Reading Challenge, you can log onto: https://online.det.nsw.edu.au/prc/home.html or come to the library and speak to me – Monday or Tuesday.

Happy Reading
