SAPSASA Netball

On Tuesday 18th June, the selected team of year 6 girls attended round one of the knockout netball competition held at St Francis de Sales College in Mount Barker. The girls played three games throughout the day, against Pulteney Grammar, St Francis de Sales College and Eastern Fleurieu School.

The day presented a high level of skills and team spirit shown by all teams, making for a fun and competitive day of play. The results for the day were as followed:

Game 1: Magill (33) defeated Pulteney Grammar (2)

Game 2: Magill (32) defeated St Francis de Sales College (5)

Game 3: Magill  (35) defeated Eastern Fleurieu School (12)

With three out of three wins for the day, Magill has progressed to round 2 of the competition, taking place early in term 3.

Excellent effort and enthusiasm were shown throughout the day. Some fantastic defending shown by Isabella P, Sukhman J and Martina P. Quick speed and run through mid court presented by Isla K, Anaaya S and Deliah S and some precise shooting from Aria L, Christabelle T and Isabelle G. It is an absolute pleasure coaching the girls and witnessing their commitment to training and working as a team. An excellent day and result. The girls should be proud of themselves for their effort in the lead up to the competition and on the day. I am looking forward to seeing what round 2 brings.

SAPSASA Soccer

On Wednesday the 12th of June, the selected teams of year 5 and 6 boys and girls attended round one of the statewide knockout soccer competition held at Service FM stadium at Gepps Cross. Five schools competed in this carnival.

The results for the day were as follows:

Game 2Magill 4 - East Adelaide 2 = WinMagill 13 - East Adelaide 0 = Win
Game 3Magill 5 - Walkerville 1 = WinMagill 2 - Walkerville 3 = Loss

The skills were high and the tension was higher, making it an awesome day of soccer with every game producing nail-biting action. The boy's team managed to go undefeated in their three games, resulting in a 1st place finish and they are through to the second round. Our girls team showed impressive improvement compared to last year. They thoroughly deserved their two wins and came super close to beating a very experienced Walkerville Primary. The girls finished in 2nd place and have also progressed to the next round, making history at Magill School. Both teams have worked extremely hard in the lead up to this tournament, training twice per week and are deserving of this amazing achievement.

Both teams represented Magill with pride and showed unbelievable passion and determination, at all times. It was an absolute pleasure coaching them and witnessing their commitment and enthusiasm. We are incredibly proud of both teams and are so excited to see how far they can go in the next round,  in week 4 of term 3.

A true example of what it means to be a Magillian!
