Grade 5/6 Netball
What an awesome day we had on Wednesday the 24th of July at the Netball competition. This year was the first time in many years that we were able to enter a boys team and a girls team into the competition. All of the teams came away with wins at the end of the day, the girls winning three games and the boys won two of their games.
It was amazing to see all of the students from St Mary's Primary School, Inglewood Primary School and Bridgewater Primary School working together to produce some wonderful netball abilities.
Grade 5/6 Division Football
Our Participation in the Grade 5/6 Division Football has been withdrawn due to insufficient numbers. While it is unfortunate that we were unable to bring together a team for St IngleBridge (St Marys, Inglewood and Bridgewater schools), we are pleased to be able to facilitate some students joining Lockwood Primary next week in their team. We look forward to hearing about their experiences playing with the team at Lockwood.
Good luck!
What's happening in the classroom?
Spelling
Morphology is a major component of our spelling focus each week. Here, we are discovering when to add the suffix -ion or -ian to base words. Do you know what happens when we add -ion to a base word verb? Ask us!
Inquiry
During Inquiry this term, students are looking at different types of geography and weather phenomena.
The Grade 5/6 group are investigating the types of geological changes and events that cause natural disasters. We have already explored earthquakes and tsunamis. What do you think we will explore next?
In Grade 3/4, we are examining the different climate zones within Australia and in our neighbouring
countries. We are learning about the characteristics and how they can impact how people and places look and change.
In Foundation and Grade 1, we have been pondering the weather and how it influences what we wear and the activities we can do. We also imagined how life would be if the movie Cloudy With a Chance of Meatballs was real.
- What food would we ask Flint Lockwood to make rain down?
- What would happen to all of that food?
Community Garden and Op Shop Visit
On the last day of Term 2, students and staff walked down to the community garden at the Inglewood and District Hospital and helped to prepare garden beds for use by St Mary's and other community groups. These gardens were prepared by the students and we look forward to returning and looking after the plants in the future. We then returned last Friday 19th July, to plant herbs and vegetables such as radicchio, pak choi, silverbeet, parsley, chives and coriander.
FIRE Carrier Commissioning
Today, we welcomed Troy Firebrace back to host the commissioning of the FIRE Carriers.
