Principal's Report

Stephen O'Shannessy

After a mid-year break, the students and staff eagerly returned as we hit the ground running with our new units and continued to set goals for the coming months.  Term 3 is an exciting term, full of many events to support our students and the community. Next Friday, we have the honour of hosting Bishop Shane Mackinley at our school. He will meet with staff and students as part of the Parish review. Bishop Shane's visit represents a significant event for our community, providing a unique opportunity for direct engagement with the broader Church leadership.  During his visit, Bishop Shane will engage in a variety of activities designed to give him a comprehensive understanding of our school's environment and the relationship it has with the Parish.

We are excited to welcome Bishop Shane and look forward to his visit, which will be a wonderful opportunity for our school community. Parents and friends are invited to our assembly from 3:00 pm on Friday.

Professional Learning

Last Monday, our staff participated in a professional development day at the Catholic Education Office, focusing on improving our data literacy skills. This invaluable day allowed us to delve into student NAPLAN data and other assessment results, enabling us to better support and enhance student learning outcomes. Data plays a crucial role in modern education. By thoroughly examining and understanding the data from various assessments, we can identify trends and patterns in student performance. This insight helps us to tailor our teaching methods to meet the individual needs of each student, ensuring that every child receives the support they need to succeed. By enhancing our data literacy skills, we are better equipped to interpret and utilise this information to drive positive changes in our teaching practices and ultimately improve student outcomes.

Learning Conversations

Next Thursday, we will be holding Learning Conversations, an essential time for students, parents, and teachers to meet and set new learning goals. These meetings are crucial as they provide an opportunity to discuss your child’s progress and determine the next steps in their educational journey. Our teachers are well-prepared to offer insights and guidance tailored to each student’s needs.

Support for Trivia Night:

We are delighted by the tremendous support for our upcoming Trivia Night. Due to the high interest, we are relocating to a larger venue to accommodate more participants. Initially, we anticipated 70 participants, but we expect to exceed 100 attendees. A sponsor's post will be shared on Facebook soon, highlighting the generous contributions from Inglewood and Bendigo businesses. Thank you for being so supportive!

Finally, last week, parents received an invitation to complete a Principal Appraisal survey. Collecting data and parent feedback is a vital part of effective school leadership. Your feedback is invaluable, and we appreciate the time you take to provide it. Thank you again for your ongoing support and involvement in our school community. We look forward to a productive and successful term ahead.

Kind Regards,
