Welcome back to Term 3!

Here is a snapshot of what the year 2 students have been up to and sneak peak to what's coming up!

Over the next few week students will be learning about the Olympics and taking part in the Potato Olympics. Students will create their own Athlete, which will represent a country and compete in 8 different events. The teachers are super excited for our Potato Olympics and can't wait for the Opening Ceremony next Monday.

Reading - Students will be engaging in literacy activities using the Little Learners Love Literacy program. During reading sessions, students will take part learning different comprehension strategies such as predicting, author's purpose, inferencing and answering questions and facts and opinion.

Writing - Students have started Information Report writing looking at different Olympic Athletes when writing an information report. Students will have the opportunity to choose a topic of choice to explore, learning and then writing an information report.

Maths - Year 2 students have started the term with Measurement and Geometry topics looking at 2D and 3D shapes, Mass, Capacity and Length. Students have made their own set of scales and are comparing different objects around the classroom.

News and reminders:

Library books and borrowing: Each week or fortnight we visit the library and encourage our students to borrow a book. At the moment we have most students borrowing, which is great to see. With the end of the term coming up, can we please make sure we return all library books. Can you please help your child to find and put their library book into their bag so it can be returned to the library. Any concerns please talk to your classroom teacher.

Jumpers: Students need to come to school with jumpers and jackets. A friendly reminder to make sure they are named clearly with your child's name and class.

Home Reading: Take home readers have started. We encourage all students to bring their reader bag back each week to change over their books. Please make sure you are recording when your children are reading each night.
