We are looking forward to an exciting term ahead full of activities for all year levels. We have been publicising dates since early Term 2, so hopefully you are all up to date with what to expect and when. All events can be found on the next page of this newsletter.
The first whole school event will be our dress up day for Book Week! Everyone is encouraged to come dressed as their favourite book character! This year the theme is 'Reading is Magic' and we welcome our community to the Book Week parade on Monday 19th August at 9am.
No students at school on this day!
OSHC will be available.
A big thank you to our community for supporting us in the implementation of the school's updated uniform policy. I remind families that our school colours are navy blue, red and a touch of white.

As you may know, we have two staff members heading off on maternity leave. Ms Patolo finished last Friday and Ms Ferdinands will finish in the next two weeks. We are so grateful to each of these staff members for their hard work and dedication to all things Hillsmeade. Sending our very best wishes to both Ms Ferdinands and Ms Patolo and their families on the safe arrival of their bubbas!
We welcome to the team Ms Cathy Caprani - teaching 4E and Mr Brendan Willis - teaching 4A.
It's going to be another day of extreme fun on Thursday 5th September!! Our annual Colour Explosion Run will be on again and we can't wait to share in all the craziness with you all.
This is the only fundraiser we have at Hillsmeade and seek the support of our community to raise as much money as we can to continue improving our school facilities. The SRC are well underway determining what they would like this year's funds to go towards!
Fundraising commences very soon, so please keep an eye out for all the details.
We can't wait!!
The student toilets continue to be a place that is mistreated by our students. We don't understand why and we are working in classes to improve this behaviour, but we are having regular issues with vandalism and misuse of toilets and urinals.
I ask that you please talk with your children at home to support the effort we are making at school to ensure the student toilets are a clean and respectful space in our school. Conversations around how to use a toilet, how to use a urinal and how to be responsible in these public spaces would be of great help to us.
Our toilets are cleaned EVERY night and have regular extreme cleans, yet we still have students choosing to make negative choices resulting in damage and uncleanliness. Our onsite Groundskeeper also regularly inspects the toilets to ensure they are up to standard and will amend this throughout the day as required.
I thank you in advance for your support in talking with your children about this matter.
Our school is conducting the annual Parent / Caregiver / Guardian Opinion Survey offered by the Department of Education and is seeking your feedback. The survey is designed to assist schools in gaining an understanding of families’ perceptions of school climate, student behaviour, and student engagement. The survey is optional, but we encourage and appreciate your participation.
Our school will use the survey results to assist in identifying areas for improvement and professional development needs in the school, to target school planning and improvement strategies.
The Parent / Caregiver / Guardian Opinion Survey will be open online from Monday 29 July to Friday 30 August 2024.
The survey will be conducted online, only takes 20 minutes to complete, and can be accessed at any convenient time on desktop computers, laptops, tablets or smartphones.
All families are invited to participate. We take your feedback very seriously and want to know how we can continue to improve!
Stay tuned for more information via Compass.
Please don't hesitate to book in for a school tour or place your enrolment application in with the school for enrolment in Prep 2025. All Prep 2025 enrolment applications are due 26th July.
