Over the July school holidays, we will begin works in preparation for the installation of outdoor shade structures around the school grounds.

This is an exciting project, which will provide much-needed shade over the existing northern basketball courts and sections of the central courtyard, ahead of the summer months.

The shade structure over the basketball courts will be free spanning, allowing students to play sports on the courts in all weather conditions.

The structure in the central courtyard will offer further shade for non-sporting activities and for students enjoying each other’s company over recess and lunch breaks.

The installation of these shade structures will complement other works undertaken to improve our grounds, including the addition of shade structures adjoining our VCE-VM spaces and in the alcoves of our Biyala and Bayuna neighbourhoods. We are now also benefitting from additional shade being provided as our gardens and trees become more established.

Students are also making great use of the new, outdoor seating situated under our large, shady trees and alongside our gymnasium.

GSSC is funding this project, which will be delivered by the Greenline Group Pty Ltd.

Greenline will pour the structure footings in the July school holidays and install the structures in the September holidays.

The Victorian School Building Authority is managing the project, which is expected to be to be finished in November.

We are sure our families and students are looking forward to addition of these shade structures as much as we are.
