Learning an Instrument in 2026 

The benefits of learning an instrument or taking vocal lessons are immense. 

 

Students experience:

  • An opportunity to develop persistence and resilience as they build confidence 

  • Brain development! (Research has demonstrated the link between regular music practice and learning and developing a higher level of general brain function) 

  • The possibility of taking music as a subject all the way to VCE. 

  • Growth in social and leadership skills. 

 

Students can have lessons on numerous instruments. There is also a special offering for students in Year 7 who want to continue/start to learn a band instrument, and for students in Prep and Year 1 who are beginning a string instrument. See the links below for more information.

Music Camp 2026

Register by Wednesday 3rd December 2025 

 

Music Camp is a highlight for many of the College musicians. In 2026, students will leave the Yirramboi Campus by bus at 8:00am on Thursday 12th February. The Camp will finish at the venue on Saturday 14th February with a concert for families at 10:00am, after which, students will be dismissed into their family’s care.  

 

The following students are eligible to attend Music Camp:

  • Members of Symphonic Band 

  • Members of String Orchestra 

  • Members of Gravity Band 

  • Members of String Fusion 

  • Members of Big Band 

  • Year 7 to 12 Choir students 

  • Students intending to audition for the College musical
