Principal's Message

Dear Parents/Carers,

GRANDPARENTS DAY AND REMEMBRANCE DAY – TUESDAY 11TH NOVEMBER

Tuesday was a very special day in our school community as we celebrated both Grandparents Day and Remembrance Day. We were delighted by the wonderful turnout of grandparents and special people who joined us.

The students were so proud to share their classrooms, learning, and stories with the important adults in their lives. Their excitement was clear, and the atmosphere across the school was warm and joyful.

As part of our Remembrance Day observance, our Junior School Council (JSC) led a thoughtful and moving tribute, honouring those who have served and continue to serve.

We were also proudly represented at the RSL City service by members of our JSC and myself. Their respectful participation reflected the values we strive to instil in our students.

A heartfelt thank you to everyone who attended and helped make the day so meaningful. Your presence and support are truly appreciated.

WORKING BEE SATURDAY - 22ND NOVEMBER 9AM TO 12PM

Working Bee Volunteers Needed! We’re holding a community Working Bee on Saturday, 22nd November, from 9am to 12pm, and we’d love your help!

There’s plenty to do as we freshen up our school grounds. Key jobs include:

• Raking

• Shifting mulch

• Sweeping

• Mowing

• Weeding

Whether you can spare an hour or the whole morning, every pair of hands makes a big difference. Please bring gloves, sturdy shoes, and any tools you’re happy to share, but be sure to sign up volunteersignup.org/CMYRQ

Your support helps create a safe, welcoming and vibrant environment for our students.

We look forward to seeing you there.

SOMERS CAMP 2026 - A FANTASTIC OPPORTUNITY FOR CURRENT YEAR 4 AND 5 STUDENTS

Years 5–6 students from across the district are invited to express their interest in attending Somers Camp, which will run from 24th February to 4th March 2026. At this stage, we are unsure how many students will be offered the opportunity to attend from Warrnambool Primary.

Students interested in attending need to return an Expression of Interest Form to the school office by Monday 24th November.

Somers Camp is a nine-day commitment, and as such, we ask that you only fill in the expression of interest form if your child can attend without concerns around sports or family commitments.

This camp is an additional opportunity for students and does not replace the planned Sovereign Hill or Melbourne Camps for Years 5–6.

Selection will be made by a draw, however, student conduct at school will be considered if selected.

If you have any questions, please contact Ms Stephanie Hann via Compass.

GOVEMBER

Everyone is getting in the Govember spirit. As a collective we ran, walked, cycled, swam and paddled nearly 4000 km in the first week.

We are well on track to reach our target of 14000km in the month of November. We cannot impress upon everyone the need to get up and get moving while you can.

It is great for the body and mind.

VOLUNTEERS MORNING TEA - TUESDAY 18TH NOVEMBER 2025 10:30AM

Please know that we appreciate your effort and would love to see you at our Morning Tea.

BUILDINGS/GROUNDS UPDATE

We have been very busy working to ensure our Buildings/ Grounds repairs and construction around the school is completed.

The expectation is that the new toilet block will be completed in time for the commencement of the 2026 school year.

The Main Building and Library repairs will commence on Monday 24th November and at this stage an expected completion date is Mid-April 2026.

We are very much looking forward to having our grand building back.

I’d like to again thank Clinton Brown and the Buildings/ Grounds sub-committee for the hard work and persistence in seeing these projects through.

PUPIL FREE DAY - MONDAY 24TH NOVEMBER

A reminder that Monday 24th November 2025 is a Pupil Free day. Staff will be busy with assessment and reporting tasks. ‘Their Care’ will be operating all day.

Have a great weekend.
