As we move towards the end of the school year, our comprehensive assessment schedule across all grade levels is well underway. Teachers are completing end of year assessments in preparation for the Semester Two Student Reports. At times, this requires classroom teachers to be out of their rooms to assess students one on one. The data gathered from these assessments will inform student reporting, guide our teaching and learning plans for 2026, and play a pivotal role in our thorough ‘student handover’ process with all staff later in the term.
Colour, paint, slime, Zooper Doopers, activities, stretches, tunnels, water, friends, joy, overs and under, sack races, egg and spoon races. What a celebration. Thank you all for helping make our Colour Run so much fun.

Our Preps for 2026 are continuing their transition journey from Kinder to Prep with us here at OLA. Orientation days are full of all sorts of emotions and both the kids and the adults felt all the feels. We are so proud of all involved and thank our staff and Buddies for being so welcoming! We can’t wait to see you all again next week.
Grade 5 buddies give Prep children a friendly, familiar face who helps them feel safe and welcomed at school. They model positive behaviour and confidence, making the transition to a new environment less overwhelming. Through shared activities, buddies build trust and connection, helping our preps settle in socially and emotionally.

Students in Years 3 and 4 had an exciting hands on learning experience using chickpeas and toothpicks to build their own 3D shapes! Engaging with concrete materials like these helps students move beyond abstract ideas and develop a deeper understanding of mathematical concepts. By physically constructing shapes, students can explore important properties such as edges, vertices, and faces, while also strengthening their spatial reasoning and problem solving skills. Activities like this encourage creativity, collaboration, and a genuine curiosity for exploring mathematics in meaningful ways.

Our Grade 1/2 students recently participated in an incursion about sustainability, focusing on the three R's. They learnt about the importance behind Reduce, Reuse, Recycle, testing their skills around sorting rubbish into the correct bins

We celebrate achievements at OLA every day in the classroom. Outstanding achievement is celebrated at every assembly in the front of the school. Congratulations to all the students who received an award last week.
