PE & Health

Students across all grades have been enthusiastically learning new sports and developing new skills in PE this term. The Preps had a brilliant time playing basketball and showed so much improvement in their skills and confidence over the 5 weeks. The rest of the school impressed with their incredible Gaelic Football skills! It really was one of the best sports we’ve played with so many students telling me how much they loved it.

As we roll in to the second half of the term, Prep to Year 3 students have been introduced to cricket, focusing on the fundamentals of hitting, throwing, and catching. Through fun skill stations and small-sided games, students are improving their hand–eye coordination, teamwork, and understanding of fair play. It’s been fantastic to see their confidence grow as they learn to bowl, bat, and field.

In Years 4-6, we’ve taken on the exciting challenge (made even more so with that sweeping wind that seems to consistently blow across the oval) of Ultimate Frisbee. This fast-paced, non-contact sport has encouraged students to build their communication, spatial awareness, and movement strategies. They’ve been learning how to throw and catch a frisbee with accuracy and work together to move the disc down the field. We have covered the rules of the game yet but we’ll get into it next week…let the disc throwing begin!

Across all grades, students are showing great enthusiasm, effort, and respect for others—key values that continue to make our PE classes such a success and so much fun.
