Principal's Report

2026 News
Our 2026 class structure will be: (please note this could be subject to change)
Prep x 1
1/2 x 3
3/4 x 3
5/6 x 2
Teaching staff and placements with classes are yet to be determined. Please do not make requests for teachers or friendship groups, we know our students extremely well and much time and thought goes into placing students into their new classes. Next week all students will be asked to nominate four other students (who will be in their cohort in 2026) who they believe they can work well with in class and who they think would support their learning and wellbeing. All students are cross checked against class lists for 2026 and all students will have at least one (sometimes more) from their list.
We will have our whole school transition session on Tuesday 9th of December.
A new school year is an exciting time for students and families, but it can be a big step – particularly for those starting Prep, secondary school or VCE.
The Department of Education has a webpage with resources and information to help you prepare for the new school year. During the school holidays, please consider reading through the resources, which include:
· Tips to help transition from kinder to Prep, primary to secondary school, and Year 10 to VCE
· What to expect at school
· Help with school costs and fees
· Health and wellbeing guidance to support children’s mental health.

P-3 Camp at School Day
Friday 21st of November our prep to year 3s will be enjoying their camp at school day. This fun day will include a range of “camp-style” activities here at school. In the past, some students have brought along a tent to set up for the day. This is completely optional and tents can be shared between students. If your family chooses to bring one, we ask that parents come before school and again at the end of lunch (2:15pm) to help set up and pack down.
Lunch:
Students will make their own sandwiches for a true camp-style lunch!
We’ll provide: (with thanks to Lancefield Bakery community $ donations and Food Bank)
Fresh bread (including gluten-free options)
Sandwich fillings

What to Bring:
Extra morning tea and a filled water bottle

A roadworthy bike and helmet are required as we will be leaving from school. Students without a bike will be walking with staff to the park.
Student will need to BYO bike, helmet, lunch, SunSmart hat and water bottle with a morning tea snack provided.
LPS end of year celebration concert/picnic and art show -will be taking place on Friday 28th of November. The art show will be open in the gym form 4.30pm - 5pm and our concert will be starting close to 5pm. Families are encouraged to bring along picnic rugs and chairs and picnic snacks to enjoy while watching our talented students perform. This years concert theme is "Places around the world!" We are sure you may already know some of the songs and music as classes are well into rehearsals!
We hope to see everyone there!

Protecting against mosquito-borne diseases
Warm and wet weather can result in greater numbers of mosquitoes and an increased risk of illness from mosquito bites. While the overall risk is currently low, some mosquitoes may be carrying diseases that make people sick.
The best protection against mosquito-borne illness is to avoid mosquito bites.
Families can protect against mosquito bites by:
covering up as much as possible with long, loose-fitting, light-coloured clothing
applying insect repellent that contains picaridin or DEET on exposed skin when outdoors
limiting outdoor activity if lots of mosquitoes are active
clean up and remove containers and items around the home that may hold water where mosquitoes may breed.
Families with any health concerns should see their doctor or phone NURSE-ON-CALL: 1300 606 024 (available 24 hours).
Free Japanese encephalitis vaccines
Japanese encephalitis virus is spread to humans through bites from infected mosquitoes and can cause a rare but potentially serious infection of the brain.
A free vaccine is available to some individuals to protect Victorians at higher risk of the virus.
For more information, including vaccine eligibility, refer to the Department of Health’s Japanese encephalitis webpage.
