ExACT Excursion

On Friday 7th November, our Year 5 and 6 ExACT students embarked on their annual excursion to Scitech, where they immersed themselves in a day of hands-on learning and scientific discovery.
The adventure began in the Planetarium, where students explored the night sky and viewed The Great Solar System Adventure—a captivating film that examined each planet and explained why they are unsuitable for human habitation. This was followed by an engaging session in the Rio Tinto Innovation Centre, where students applied the engineering design process—Define, Plan, Create, Test, Reflect, and Redesign—to build crash-resistant vehicles.
The day continued with a live science theatre performance titled It’s Elementary, which introduced students to the four classical elements and demonstrated how they interact with other elements from the periodic table.
The highlight of the day was exploring Scitech’s newly upgraded general floor exhibition space. Students enthusiastically engaged with interactive displays covering science, technology, engineering, and mathematics—and even had the chance to drive a Mars rover!
A heartfelt thank you to our wonderful parent volunteers Melessa Signato, Miriam Millard, Carlos Quijano & Anne Marie Sims for their support throughout the day, and to Mrs Elise Johnson for accompanying the group and sharing in the experience.
