Clover is our cheerful four-leaf clover Kimochi who helps students learn how to manage disappointment and bounce back with optimism.

Sometimes Clover feels disappointed when things don’t go his way. He even acts a little silly to hide those feelings, but that’s okay! Clover reminds us that it’s normal to feel disappointed. What matters most is finding a way to move forward.

Clover teaches students the “Disappointed Snap or Shrug”, a simple movement to remind ourselves that things don’t always go as planned, but we can always try again another time.

He also shares the power of “Maybe”:

  • “Oh well, maybe next time.”
  • “It’s okay I didn’t get to be leader, maybe I’ll get a turn at lunch.”

Using “maybe” makes disappointment feel smaller and brings hope for what’s ahead.

Clover’s springy body helps him bounce back when things don’t go his way. With positive self-talk and optimism, he moves forward, and so can we!

Remember: it’s okay to feel disappointed, and if those feelings feel big, talk to a trusted adult. Together, we can bounce back.
