Through engaging stories about animals, they learnt the names of native animals and discovered the rich culture of the Noongar people.

The children also had the opportunity to learn their colours in Noongar language and were able to use their new skills by identifying these in the classroom.

They also had lots of fun singing songs about body parts, including favourites like Head, Shoulders, Knees and Toes—but with a Noongar twist! It was a wonderful way to connect language learning with music and movement.

Year 5 Bandicoots and Dingoes

This term, our Year 5 students have been on an exciting writing journey, learning how to write persuasive speeches. They explored how to use strong language and convincing arguments to show why they would make great leaders. From brainstorming ideas to polishing their final drafts, the progress they’ve made has been incredible. We are so proud of their effort, creativity, and confidence!

Students who applied for leadership positions bravely presented their speeches to Years 3–5 and their teachers. Speaking in front of such a large audience is no easy task, so a big congratulations to all who put their names forward and showed such courage!

In Design and Technology, we’ve been diving into the water cycle and how it connects to building a terrarium. Students have been learning about the different layers, such as drainage, soil, and plants and why each one is important for creating a healthy environment.

Soon, we’ll start building our terrariums in class and then observe them over time, watching these little ecosystems grow and change. This hands-on project gives students the chance to design their own terrariums and watch their ideas come to life.
