From the Principal

Last week, I had the pleasure of joining our Year 4 students on camp at Flinders. It was wonderful to see them laughing with their peers, embracing every activity and supporting one another. Many students faced new challenges—from settling night-time nerves while sleeping away from home for the first time, to conquering their fears on the giant swing—and they did so with courage and enthusiasm. Camp staff once again praised our teachers for their organisation and care, and our students for their adventurous spirit, willingness to try new things, and exceptional manners. To the parents and carers who have raised these beautiful young people, you should feel as proud of them as we do.

Social–Emotional Growth

Throughout the school year, our students encounter a range of challenges that help them grow socially and emotionally. As adults, we know that trying something new is rarely as daunting as it first feels—and children discover this too when they experience a mix of emotions and then realise they have overcome a worry or achieved a goal. At times, it can be tempting for parents to shield children from discomfort by seeking to remove the challenge altogether. However, doing so can unintentionally limit valuable opportunities for resilience, confidence and independence to develop.

Soon, students across the school will begin our ‘Step Up’ program. For some, the upcoming changes—new routines, classrooms, classmates and teachers—may feel challenging. But just as generations of children before them have navigated transitions successfully, so too will our capable, confident students.

Year 6 Exhibition

Our Year 6 students continue to impress the adults around them with their curiosity, insight, and passion for global issues and human rights. They truly embody what it means to be learners in an International Baccalaureate school—organised, thoughtful, confident communicators who care about making a difference.

Tomorrow, our Year 6 students are presenting their Exhibition inquiries, with classes visiting throughout the day. We warmly invite our wider school community to come along and engage with their work by visiting the Year 6 classrooms and main building corridors between 3:45 – 5:45pm.

Transition – ‘Step Up’ to the Next Year

Plans are already underway for activities to support students as they transition to their 2026 classes. ‘Step Up’ day provides an opportunity for students to meet their new teacher and classmates, begin building new relationships, and learn about the exciting experiences that await them next year.

Tuesday 9 December is the state-wide transition day. On this day, our Year 6 students will attend their 2026 government secondary schools, and all new students joining our school will be welcomed to take part in our transition activities.

School Improvement Over the Summer Holidays

This week, School Council approved the 2026 Facilities and Finance budget, allocating funds for a range of buildings and grounds improvements. Our portables are well overdue for a refresh, and over the summer break they will be repainted inside and out, fitted with new carpet and pinboards, and equipped with new student desks and furniture ready for our incoming Prep cohort.

Additional improvements planned include:

  • Drainage works behind the tech shed to prevent water seepage
  • Repairs to the synthetic turf at the front of the school where required
  • Installation of a commercial oven, pie warmer and label printer in the canteen.
