Ashton Hutton Shines at PSSA NSW Athletics Carnival
We are very proud to share that Ashton Hutton recently represented our school at the PSSA NSW Athletics Carnival. Ashton competed in the High Jump event and showed great skill and determination.
The High Jump is a challenging event that requires strength, good technique, and focus. Ashton worked hard to clear high bars throughout the competition and impressed everyone with their effort and sportsmanship.
This experience is a wonderful achievement for Ashton and will help build confidence and skills for future athletics events.

Grandparents Day Celebration at Guyra Central School
Guyra Central School recently hosted a wonderful Grandparents Day event, marked by a joyful morning tea and open classrooms. The day saw a huge turnout of proud grandparents who came to celebrate and share special moments with their grandchildren.
Students were visibly excited to welcome their grandparents, eager to show off their classrooms and share their learning experiences. The open classroom format allowed visitors to engage directly with the students’ work and see first hand the vibrant learning environment at Guyra Central.
Year 6 student Sophie Rumbel took on the important role of photographer for the event, capturing wonderful photos that beautifully documented the day’s special moments and the joyful connections between students and their grandparents.
The morning tea provided a warm and friendly atmosphere where families could connect, enjoy delicious treats, and celebrate the important role grandparents play in their grandchildren’s lives.
Overall, Grandparents Day was a heartwarming success, highlighting the strong community spirit at Guyra Central School and creating lasting memories for students and their families alike.
Aurora Residential Camp
Rose Kliendienst attended her biannual Aurora Residential Camp, a program that provides talented students with opportunities to develop their skills and learn new things in a supportive environment. She showed great commitment to learning both inside and outside the classroom. Rose did an amazing job winning the Year 10 Science Symposium. She worked on a project about how eye colour is determined by DNA. She had to research the topic, make a PowerPoint presentation, and then explain her work to other students, science teachers, and a biology expert. She was proud to be the winner of the competition among 78 Year 10 students.
Our School Leaders Shine at the Snowgums Highland Leaders Lunch!
We were proud to have our school leaders attend the Snowgums Highland Leaders Lunch, where they had the fantastic opportunity to connect with student leaders from surrounding schools.
A special thank you to Brendan Moylan, Local Member for the New England Region, for joining us and sharing his insightful thoughts on leadership. His words inspired our students to embrace their roles with confidence and purpose.

Exciting Transition to Year 7 Experience for Future Guyra Central Students
Year 6 students from Guyra Central School and surrounding schools who will commence their secondary education at Guyra Central School in 2026 have participated in a series of Transition to Year 7 experience days throughout the year.
This valuable program has given students the opportunity to become familiar with secondary school routines and to experience a variety of learning environments, including both mainstream classes and Big Picture learning.
These experiences have helped students build confidence and prepared them well for the challenges and opportunities that secondary education will bring. We are confident that both our existing students and our new Year 7 students are ready to embrace their secondary education journey at Guyra Central School in 2026.
Guyra Central School Stage 3 Students Explore Science at UNE’s Far Out Science Day
Armidale, NSW — Stage 3 students from Guyra Central School recently embarked on an exciting educational adventure, participating in the Far Out Science Day held at the University of New England (UNE) in Armidale. The event provided the students with a unique opportunity to engage in hands-on science activities and experiments, sparking curiosity and enthusiasm for STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics) subjects.
During the visit, the students took part in a variety of interactive workshops designed to challenge their understanding of scientific concepts and encourage critical thinking. From conducting chemical reactions to exploring physics through practical demonstrations, the children were actively involved in discovering how science applies to the world around them.
Far Out Science Day aims to inspire young learners by offering a dynamic environment where education meets exploration. UNE’s faculty and student volunteers guided the Guyra Central School students through experiments that fostered teamwork, problem-solving, and creativity.
The day was not only educational but also fun and memorable, with students expressing excitement about the experiments and the new scientific principles they learned. Teachers from Guyra Central School noted the importance of experiences like these in boosting students' interest in science and supporting their ongoing learning journey.

Stage 6 Students Complete HSC Exams and Celebrate at Formal
We are proud to announce that our Stage 6 students have successfully completed their Higher School Certificate (HSC) exams. After months of dedication and hard work, the graduating cohort recently came together to celebrate this important milestone at their Formal held at the Guyra Bowling Club.
The event was a wonderful celebration, attended by 80 guests including family, teachers, and community members. It was a joyful evening filled with music, speeches, and dancing — a fitting way to honour the achievements of our students and mark the conclusion of their HSC journey.
Our Rel Principal Mr Tim Lloyd expressed heartfelt congratulations to the students, acknowledging their perseverance and commitment throughout the exam period. The support from families and staff has been invaluable in helping our graduates reach this significant point in their education.
The warm and friendly atmosphere at the Bowling Club added to the success of the night, allowing graduates and their guests to reflect on their time at Guyra Central School and look ahead to new opportunities and adventures.

Guyra Central School Honours Service and Sacrifice with Remembrance Day Assembly
Guyra Central School recently came together to observe Remembrance Day with a heartfelt assembly dedicated to paying respect to all those who have served our country. The event provided a meaningful opportunity for students, and staff to reflect on the sacrifices made by our veterans and active service personnel.
Throughout the assembly, students presented thoughtful readings and shared stories that highlighted the significance of Remembrance Day. The moment of silence, observed at 11 a.m., was a poignant reminder of the courage and dedication displayed by Australians in times of conflict.
The school’s Remembrance Day assembly also featured the playing of the Last Post and Reveille, accompanied by the laying of wreaths to symbolize our collective gratitude. Teachers and students alike expressed their appreciation for the freedoms and peace secured through the commitment of our servicemen and women.

Outstanding Success for Charlie Ward at Northern NSW Shooting Carnivals
Guyra Central School is proud to highlight the exceptional achievements of Year 11 student Charlie Ward, who recently demonstrated remarkable skill and dedication at two prestigious shooting events.
At the Northern NSW Schools DTL Shooting Carnival held in Tamworth, Charlie delivered an outstanding performance, earning multiple top honours. She was the overall winner of the 25T Double Barrel and secured 1st place as the AA winner in the 25T Single Barrel. Charlie also claimed the overall title in the 25T Point Score, took 1st place as the A winner in the 10PR Double Rise, and was the overall winner of the AA High Gun. Additionally, she earned the Ladies High Gun title, proudly receiving the Cherie Hunter Memorial Shield — a significant award within the shooting community.
Building on this success, Charlie continued her impressive form at the Rex Varley Shoot, where she was named both the overall winner and the Overall High Gun.
Charlie’s accomplishments highlight her exceptional talent and commitment to the sport of DTL clay target shooting. Her outstanding results not only bring great pride to Guyra Central School but also serve as an inspiration to her peers.
We congratulate Charlie on these remarkable achievements and look forward to seeing her excel further in her sporting pursuits.
Early Stage 1/Stage 1 Students Spread Holiday Cheer at McLean Care Christmas Party
Our Early Stage 1 and Stage 1 students, lovingly known as the "Sloths," recently transformed into the cutest little reindeers to attend the McLean Care Christmas party. Dressed in festive costumes, the reindeers sang beautifully, entertaining the residents and creating a joyful atmosphere.
In addition to their heartfelt performance, the students presented the residents with homemade Christmas biscuits, adding a personal touch to the celebration. This meaningful experience allowed our students to engage with the community and share the spirit of the season.
We extend our sincere thanks to Mrs Tara Brazier for inviting our students to participate in this special event. It was a wonderful opportunity for everyone involved to celebrate and connect during the holiday season.
Primary Celebration Day and Year 6 Graduation at Guyra Central School
Guyra Central School recently held a joyful Primary Celebration Day that also marked the Year 6 Graduation. It was a wonderful occasion to recognise and celebrate the hard work and achievements of our students from Kindergarten to Year 6.
During the event, students were awarded Premier’s Reading Challenge Certificates and merit certificates in recognition of their dedication and success in the classroom throughout the year. These awards highlighted the wide range of efforts and accomplishments by our primary students.
A special highlight of the day was the farewell to our Year 6 graduates. In a touching ceremony, the younger students formed a guard of honour to send them off as they transition from primary to secondary school. While we will certainly miss their presence around the primary classes, we look forward to seeing their familiar faces continuing their education at Guyra Central School’s secondary campus.
We are also pleased to announce our 2026 Primary School Captains: Indigo-Grace Atkin and Hugh Kliendienst. They will proudly represent the voice and leadership of our primary students in the upcoming year.

Year 6 Graduation Celebration at Guyra Central School
The Year 6 students at Guyra Central School recently celebrated their graduation in style at the annual Year 6 Farewell Dinner. This year’s theme, ‘Lifestyles of the Rich and Famous’, transformed the school gymnasium into a glamorous setting, creating the perfect backdrop for the evening’s celebrations.
The students looked stunning and enjoyed a fantastic night filled with memorable moments. Highlights included a photo booth where students felt like true celebrities, delicious food provided by The Guyra Cafe, and plenty of dancing to end the night on a high note.
We extend our sincere thanks to Mr. Allestsee and Miss Fletcher for their dedication in organising the event, The Guyra Cafe for their support, and the parents who contributed to making the evening a success.

Transition Program Wraps Up for 2026 Kindergarten Students
Our Transition program for our littlest learners concluded today, marking the end of an exciting Term 4. We have truly enjoyed getting to know our 2026 Kindergarten students and helping them become familiar with school routines, giving them a valuable head start as they embark on their educational journey in 2026.
Throughout the term, students experience a welcoming environment designed to ease their transition into formal schooling, fostering confidence and excitement for the year ahead.
As the year draws to a close, we wish our youngest learners a very Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year! We look forward to welcoming them back and sharing a fantastic year of discovery and learning in 2026.
Guyra Central School Colour Fun Run Raises $5770
Our whole school recently came together for a vibrant and energetic Colour Fun Run, and what a fantastic event it was! This exciting activity provided a perfect way for students and staff to unwind and celebrate after a busy year.
We are thrilled to announce that the event raised a total of $5,770. A big thank you goes to Bunnings Armidale for sponsoring the Colour Fun Run. Their generous support helped make this special day possible.
The run was filled with fun, laughter, and colourful moments that brought our school community closer together. It was wonderful to see everyone participating with such enthusiasm and school spirit.

Guyra Central School Engages Students in Environmental Tree Planting at Little Langothlin
Guyra Central School recently had the wonderful opportunity to participate in an environmental tree planting project at Little Langothlin. Partnering with Local Land Services, Banbai Rangers, and the Aboriginal Land Council, our students were actively involved in this meaningful community initiative.
Supported by the Australian Government’s Natural Heritage Trust, the project aims to enhance biodiversity and support the conservation of native species in the region. Through hands-on involvement, our students gained valuable experience and a deeper understanding of the importance of environmental stewardship.
