Principal's Report

Final Assembly
We will hold our final assembly for 2025 tomorrow at 1:00 pm. Given the forecast, this is likely to take place on the basketball court.
This final assembly will provide an opportunity to farewell our Grade 6 students, as well as announce our student leaders for 2026. Families of students who will be announced as official SGPS leaders in 2026 were sent an email earlier today.
Congratulations, Mrs Todeschini!
Mrs Todeschini has been appointed Acting Principal of Dunolly Primary School for Term 1 next year. This is a wonderful opportunity for Mrs Todeschini to pursue her career goals, although she will be greatly missed by all of us here at SGPS.
Mrs Todeschini’s position will not be backfilled for Term 1, allowing for her return at the beginning of Term 2.
I’m sure everyone will join me in wishing Mrs Todeschini all the very best for this exciting opportunity. I know she will be an outstanding leader for the Dunolly school community.
SWPBS Reward
Our students earned enough Gugu stickers this term to achieve a Level 2 school reward. I use the term “reward” loosely, given that I was the one who was slimed! It truly was a reward that kept on giving, as I continued to find traces of the slime even after a very long shower.
The students selected to slime me were the highest sticker recipients in their department over the course of 2026. This was a fantastic way to celebrate their consistent positive behaviour and commitment to our school expectations.
Well done to all students for their ongoing efforts and positive choices!
Grade 6 Graduation
Last Thursday, the class of 2025 celebrated a great year, and in many cases, seven great years, at SGPS. We were fortunate to have good weather, given our outdoor venue of The Hub. I trust all in attendance had a great night.
I would like to thank our wonderful teachers, support staff and the students for their fun performance and humorous speeches. Special thanks to Mrs Clohesy, Mrs Byron, Mr Staley, Mr Crawford, Mrs Garmey and Mr Greer for supporting the children in their classroom throughout the year. Thanks also to our wonderful Specialist teachers, Education Support staff and admin team for their support and positive influence. I hope the families of these children are also feeling very proud of their efforts in successfully guiding their children to this point in their schooling.
The process of selecting award recipients this year were extremely difficult once again, reflecting the high standard set by this awesome cohort. Congratulations to the following children for receiving special awards last week:

The first photo below is Gen and I re-enacting the first interaction between us on the first day of Prep in 2019. After a warm welcome from me, saying that I was so happy to have her at SGPS, she proceeded to punch me in the guts. As you can appreciate, I wasn't ready for this (and why should I be!) and had to suck air back into my lungs, before letting her know that I wasn't that happy after all!
Thank You to Parent Club
Our extremely hard working and dedicated Parent Club have been quietly working behind the scenes all year to raise money and organise social events for our school this year. Their ongoing support is greatly appreciated and has not gone unnoticed.
A huge thank you to our incredible community for supporting their fundraising efforts throughout the year. And a very special thank you to our dedicated volunteers, who have made Fresh Fruit Friday possible.
A special thank-you to our president, Kellie Schajermann. Kellie and her team have worked incredibly hard for our school and community during the year.
On behalf of Parent Club, Kellie and the team would like to wish everyone a Merry Christmas.
Departing Families
Brett, Jenna and I would like to thank the many families that have now ended their formal relationship with our school as their youngest child, or in some cases their only child, has now graduated from Spring Gully Primary School. We would like to thank all of these 35 families for supporting our school and for supporting their child’s education. We hope you all have fond memories of your time with Spring Gully Primary School.
We would also like to farewell those families that are moving to other schools and other locations and will not be with us in 2026. I thank you for being part of our school community and wish you all the best for the future.
School Leaders - Thanks
Special thanks to all of our student leaders in 2025. We have formal leadership roles, such as School Captains, House Captains, SRC Representatives and Indigenous Leaders, but we also have an incredible number of students who demonstrate great leadership qualities without an official title. We are fortunate to teach such great children at SGPS.
Below is a photo of our outgoing School Captains, Reuben and Cailin, receiving awards at Graduation.
Collecting Medications
A reminder to please collect any medications required over the holidays from the office before the end of the day tomorrow.
Final Assembly and Early Finish
We will be having a brief assembly tomorrow at 1.00pm. All students will then be dismissed at 1.15pm. We would appreciate students being pick up on time as all staff will be moving from assembly to an external venue, where we will be having our traditional Christmas lunch together.
Happy Holidays
I hope everyone has a safe and enjoyable Christmas and New Year. I look forward to another great year in 2026. Don't forget to Be Awesome, and if you're already awesome, just be more awesome!
