PFA News

A big welcome back to 2026 to all our CPS families, and a special shout out to our brand new families joining the CPS community this year. The PFA has a heap of fantastic fundraising and social events planned for 2026, and we’d love to see faces old and new get involved throughout the year.

Prep Welcome Morning Tea this Friday

The PFA is hosting a morning tea this Friday 6th February to officially welcome Prep parents and caregivers into the CPS community. Please come along to the staff room from 9am to celebrate your child’s first day of school and connect with other Prep parents. Tears and cheers both encouraged!

A special thank you to our 2025 Prep families for their delicious contributions towards the morning tea for this year’s Prep parents.

Calling for 2026 Class Reps

We are seeking parents interested in becoming Class Reps for 2026! Class Reps play an invaluable role in reminding parents (via our WhatsApp communities and groups) what’s happening (both at school and PFA events), organising social events to get to know other parents and families in your grade, and generally helping to foster an engaged school community.

Many Class Reps also volunteer their time at the various PFA events and activities throughout the year. Volunteering as a Class Rep is a great way to get to know other parents in your class/grade, and their children.

In particular we are after reps for the following classes which currently have no rep:

  • Prep B
  • 4A
  • 5C

With class reps, it's the more the merrier - it's totally fine to have more than one per class.  If you are interested in being a Class Rep this year, please fill out this short expression of interest form:

Volunteer Lead Opportunities - Icy Pole Friday & Scholastic Book Club

The PFA is seeking new volunteers to coordinate IcyPole Friday’s (Terms 1 & 4) and the Scholastic Book Club (one catalogue per term).

Both roles would suit a parent who is looking to give back to the school in an ongoing and meaningful way, but isn’t looking to commit to taking on a formal PFA role. The PFA will provide induction and ongoing support to any new volunteer leads, and can also help source additional volunteer support via SignUp.

Please note that unless we secure new volunteer leads, it's likely these much-loved fundraisers will not be able to continue in 2026.

Icy Pole Fridays

  • source and facilitate delivery of icy poles, ensuring freezers remain adequately stocked
  • Make sure adequate volunteer(s) via signup by Thursday prior. Inform PFA email address if required to cancel, so they can help find replacement volunteers
  • Make sure IcyPole Friday runs smoothly and fund collected are handed in to office for banking
  • Keep icy pole Friday instructions up to date for volunteers

Scholastic Book Club

  • Set up classes (teachers/student numbers) at the start of the year in Scholastic portal
  • Arrange distribution of catalogues via teachers once per term (put in staff pigeon holes)
  • Communicate open/close dates to PFA comms lead for promotion via Compass, Newsletter etc
  • Facilitate delivery, sorting and packing of orders with a team of volunteers once per term
  • Occasionally communicate with CPS literacy lead (Genevieve Murtagh) regarding available of funds to be spent by school
  • Communicate book club takings to CPS leadership team

If you are interested in taking on or learning more about either role, please email pfa@carnegieps.vic.edu.au
