Strengthening ties with the brand new ECU City Campus
For St George's Anglican Grammar School students, ECU City needs no introduction. Our students have long watched it emerge from the ground during their daily travels to and from Perth Train Station or Busport - or on regular walks around the city and Northbridge as part of their learning.
Now, our graduates have the opportunity to continue their studies on familiar ground - with the brand new university now complete, just up from from our own two campuses. ECU City is the most exciting building in Perth - apart from 441 Murray Street of course!
Everything about ECU is state-of-the-art, from the electronic art displays on the façade and in the building's entrance to the foundations, which are designed to withstand jolts from trains passing beneath.
On the north side, facing Northbridge theatres and galleries, the creators have focused on creative industries. On the side facing the city, there are businesses, law firms and information technology companies.
Ten thousand students will be based at ECU City, studying:
- The WA Academy of Performing Arts (WAAPA)
- Arts and Humanities
- Business and Law, and
Information Technology
The ECU City Open Day for 2026 is scheduled for Sunday, August 9, 2026. Mark your diary.

The six-storey addition will serve as a premier hub for the John de Laeter Centre and the WA School of Mines, featuring advanced, hands-on learning spaces and specialised research facilities to enhance scientific impact.
Vice Chancellor Harlene Hayne was on the Science Show on 24 January, describing how science is a pillar at Curtin University. She described a spectacular parade of achievements at Curtin.
Mining, geology and engineering are strengths, together with astronomy, thanks to the Square Kilometre Array.

$100m donation to Murdoch Veterinary School
Perth businessman Ted Powell has donated $100m to Murdoch University.
The funds will be used to rebuild the university’s veterinary school. The new build is expected to take about five years and will allow the university to boost the number of students wanting to train as vets from 105 to 150 per year. (ABC News)
