Parents' Association and PAL organised events

As we step into a new school year, the Parent Association is delighted to welcome both returning families and those joining our community for the first time. Our school thrives because of the partnership between families, staff, and students, and we’re excited to continue building that strong foundation. Whether you’re volunteering, attending events, sharing ideas, or simply cheering from the sidelines, your involvement makes a meaningful difference

About the Parents' Association

At John XXIII College, every parent and guardian is automatically a member of the Parents’ Association, reflecting that the partnership between families and the College is central to the education and wellbeing of the students.

The Parents’ Association meets once per term, offering a platform for parents to come together, stay informed, and actively shape the future of the College. The meetings of the Association are open to all parents, guardians, and staff. They offer an opportunity to stay informed about developments within the College, to meet families from other year groups, and to participate in the decision-making process surrounding funding proposals and initiatives that enhance the student experience.

Key focus areas

The Parents' Association concentrates on four main areas:

  1. The financial role focuses on the strategic use of Parent levy funds.
  2. The social role is orchestrated by dedicated parent representatives or PALS (parent association liaisons) for each year group, under the leadership of primary and secondary convenors, Pastoral care (Roncalli Care)
  3. The education role is overseen by our Inspire committee, who work with the college to organise a program of events featuring speakers and educators who address relevant issues affecting our young people and families.
  4. Our final pillar is the pastoral care role, run by Roncalli Care. Coordinated by a compassionate committee, they collaborate to support College families facing hardship and loss due to illness.

2026 Meeting schedule:

  • Term 1: Tuesday, 3 March 2026, 6pm
  • Term 2: Tuesday, 26 May 2026, 6pm
  • Term 3: Tuesday, 25 August 2026, 6pm
  • Term 4: Tuesday, 17 November 2025, 6pm (Meeting and AGM)

Funding Proposals

The John XXIII College Parents' Association have funds available for proposals that meet the objectives of the Parents’ Association by promoting social interaction or providing material assistance to the College. Successful proposals must show they either benefit students in all years or, if only specific years, then support previously neglected years to maintain a balance of benefit across the College. Proposals can be submitted by parents or staff (with a parent sponsor).

We encourage all nominators to ensure their proposals fulfil all criteria on the proposal form, as the committee can only approve proposals that meet the criteria. Once the committee approves, the proposal can then be put forward for a vote at the Parents' Association meeting.

Proposals must be submitted by 5pm on Friday of Week 2 to qualify for consideration at the upcoming Term meeting.

Pope Francis: The Disruptive Pilgrim’s Guide – Book Launch at John XXIII College

John XXIII College is delighted to be hosting an upcoming book launch with Fr Frank Brennan SJ AO, and we would be very grateful for your assistance in promoting this event through your networks. The event will launch his new book, Pope Francis: The Disruptive Pilgrim’s Guide, and will be officiated by Archbishop Timothy Costelloe SDB, Archbishop of Perth, together with Fr Frank Brennan SJ AO.

Fr Brennan’s publication explores Pope Francis’s impact as a ‘disruptive pilgrim,’ blending Jesuit insight with themes of mercy, justice and inclusion, and inviting readers to reflect on the Pope’s call to renewal, compassion and social engagement within the global Church.

Staff and attendees from Catholic Education WA schools may also use their attendance towards accreditation hours, which we hope will make this a particularly valuable opportunity for colleagues across the system.

Event details are as follows:

  • Title: Pope Francis: The Disruptive Pilgrim’s Guide – Book Launch
  • Date: Tuesday 24 February 2026
  • Time: 4:30pm – 6:30pm
  • Venue: Thomas More Exhibition Centre, John XXIII College, John XXIII Avenue, Mount Claremont
  • Booking link: https://www.trybooking.com/1514428

The book will be available for purchase on the evening at a special launch price of $25 (soft cover).
