Junior School

Welcome to Term 1 2026
This week has been another wonderful reminder of the strong community we share at Trinity College. As staff, it was a pleasure to welcome so many smiling faces on Tuesday morning, each boy arriving with enthusiasm and readiness for the year ahead. The Junior School was filled with energy as the boys reconnected with friends and settled back into school life.
At our Day 1 Junior School Assembly, we proudly welcomed 101 new boys to Trinity College. For these students, this marks the beginning of an exciting journey filled with opportunity, growth, and new experiences. Mr. O’Neill spoke to the boys about embracing the possibilities that a new year brings and continuing to grow in all aspects of their school life. He also acknowledged our Year 6 cohort, who we know will lead the Junior School with maturity and kindness, setting a strong example for our younger boys.
My message to the boys centered on potential. At Trinity College, our aim is to support every boy in becoming the very best version of himself. We know that each student arrives each day with a positive attitude and a willingness to take on new challenges. We also recognize that mistakes will happen along the way; this is a natural and important part of learning. Our staff have spent Week 1 establishing a classroom environment that is calm, clear, and consistent for every boy, every day. Through this structure and support, we are confident that all 246 Junior School boys can continue to thrive and reach their potential this year.
Parent – Teacher communication
Throughout the day our classroom teachers are focused on delivering the curriculum content and assisting your son with his academic and personal growth. When emailing your son’s teacher during school hours, please be mindful they may not see your communication as they are teaching. As per College guidelines, staff will respond to your email within 24 hours. In the case of an emergency or a general school enquiry, please call the Junior School office 9219 1131 or email junior.school@trinity.wa.edu.au.
Co- Curricular
The Junior School Co-curricular programs will commence on Monday, 2 February. You would have received an email from the teacher in charge of your son’s club. This would have outlined the day, venue, and what is required for the club. Please see below for further information regarding our supervision and club arrangement after school, commencing Monday.
3.00pm - 3.20pm:
Boys will be supervised in the Junior School Undercover Area until they are collected by an adult or older sibling.
Boys who catch the bus can walk to the bus stop.
Parents can use street parking on Salaini Ave and boys may walk safely to their parents' car once they have seen them.
A reminder the car park near Junior School is for staff parking only. For the safety of all students, it is imperative that this is not used as a pickup/ drop off point.
3.20pm - 4.00pm (Monday – Thursday):
Boys will go to the room of their chosen club.
Any boy not collected will be taken to the Year 4 White classroom where there will be supervision. From here, they will need to be collected in person.
4.00pm- 5.00pm (Monday to Thursday):
Boys will be taken to the Junior School STEM classroom.
Boys will be signed into the STEM room and will need to be collected by an adult. **
** Boys involved in swimming lessons at 3.30pm can walk over to the pool at 3.20pm. Boys with a swimming lesson later than 3.30pm must attend Homework Club and have a note in their diary giving permission for them to independently walk themselves to the pool prior to their lesson.
Parent Information Night
Our Junior School Parent Information will be held on Monday, 9 February (Term 1 Week 3). We will commence in the Sports Centre at 5.00pm, before moving off to classrooms to hear from respective year-level teachers.
Please note that there will be no Homework Club (4.00pm – 5.00pm) on this day.
HOJS Forum
Each term I will hold a Head of Junior School Forum. This is an opportunity to provide any updates regarding the Junior School. Additionally, it is a chance to answer any questions you may have regarding the Junior School.
The first HOJS forum will be Friday, 27 February at 1.45pm in the Junior School STEM room.
It has been a wonderful start to the 2026 academic year in the Junior School. Thank you for your support. We look forward to the remainder of the year.
God Bless,
Mr James McPherson
Head of Junior School
