Primary Department

Years 1 & 2

This term Stage 1 students will be showcasing their acting skills in a dramatisation of the book Farmer Duck. Each child has been allocated a specific part as one of the farm animals in the play to retell the story of the lazy farmer and the overworked duck. Mrs Endacott has designed the fabulous costumes and overseen the adaption of the script and movement routines. On Thursday 7 August, all students will be performing the play at the whole school assembly, and we would love families to come and watch this stellar performance.

In Year 2 the children have produced artworks of farm animals using different techniques to create cows, sheep and ducks. During Reading for Pleasure time, they have engaged with books connected to the topic of farms and shared text-to-text connections. Each child has completed a delightful reading river poster to share their personal reading journey for Term 2.

Year 1 children made some yummy cookies with Mrs Taylor’s helpful students. In class, they consolidated number concepts and counting strategies through playing maths games including Target Number. Year 1 wrote letters to children at another school and were so pleased to receive letters back and read them to each other. Mr Hunt also received many letters from the class, trying to persuade him to give them a longer recess and party Fridays…which ended up happening on the last day of term with our surprise visit and dance party with Mitch Tambo. Perfect timing!

Last term we were lucky to have the UNE Science Discovery Bus visit our school. The children enjoyed participating in some fantastic science experiments and were exposed to many different scientific concepts. Their little faces gave away their curiosity and excitement!

100 Days of Kindergarten

On Monday 28 July the Kindergarten Rubies celebrated their first 100 days of school. They made '100 days smarter' crowns and enjoyed photos and cupcakes.
