Behaviour for Learning

The Behaviour for Learning team at St Patrick’s is pleased to share an update on our ongoing work and progress across the school community.

The Behaviour for Learning team is made up of six staff members, including teachers, allied health professionals, and school leadership. Together, they work in partnership with all staff and the broader school community to develop and embed effective Behaviour for Learning practices that reflect our school’s values and unique context. Our work focuses on fostering safe, supportive environments that promote academic, social, and emotional growth. By using common language and implementing tailored, strengths-based interventions, we support students proactively while celebrating the diversity of our learners. Our approach focuses on enhancing communication and supporting emotional regulation, with the aim of setting every student up for success.

Over the past 18 months, the team has engaged in a range of professional development opportunities from multiple providers to deepen our understanding of student behaviour. We have drawn on the most impactful elements of this learning to shape practices that are aligned with the needs and values of our school community. A significant achievement has been the development of Tier 1 plans for all students at St Patrick’s. These plans outline the universal supports required to create consistent, positive learning environments for every student. Additionally, these plans ensure that all staff have access to the most effective strategies for supporting each student. We are committed to ongoing learning, reflective practice, and staying true to our shared values while placing students at the centre of our work.
