Dear Families
Welcome Back to Term 3.
I hope you had a relaxing and refreshing break, ready for the term ahead. It’s always a joy to see the students return with energy and excitement, and we’re looking forward to a term full of learning, growth and community connection.
A special welcome to Mel, who has joined our leadership team this term. We’re thrilled to have her on board in her new role and already appreciate the positive energy and insight she brings to the team.
We also warmly welcome a new student, Isabella to the White Class. We’re so pleased to have her join our school community and look forward to seeing her flourish as she builds friendships and explores her learning journey with us.
At the start of this term, our staff engaged in a Pupil Free Day focused on Aboriginal Cultural Awareness, facilitated by Tauondi College. This important professional learning supports our commitment to being a culturally responsive school. We believe that understanding and respecting the rich histories, cultures, and contributions of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples is central to building inclusive and respectful learning environments for all.
During the day, we also had the privilege of working with an Aboriginal artist to create beautiful painted wooden crosses that will be included in each classroom’s prayer space. Each class team wrote a story that reflected their class values, identity, and hopes, which inspired their cross design. It was a meaningful and creative experience, and the artworks are a powerful reminder of our shared values and respect for culture.
Looking ahead, we’re preparing for our upcoming Personalised Planning forLearning (PPL) meetings. These meetings are a wonderful opportunity to partner with families in support of each child’s learning and wellbeing. We look forward to welcoming you into the school and working together to set goals and celebrate progress.
I look forward to seeing you throughout the term.
Kind regards
Cathy Sires
