Sovereign Hill Camp
We are very excited for camp next week! Please ensure that you and your child have looked at the suggested packing list and Sovereign Hill costume requirements, which was sent out via email late last term and again this week. It is going to be cold in Ballarat so pack warm! On Wednesday morning, we will be meeting in front of the Vermont Reserve clubrooms at 8:30am, as the buses will be picking us up from there. There is no need for the students to come to the classroom.
The students get the opportunity to explore Sovereign Hill on our first day and purchase items. We have spoken to the students that they can bring a maximum of $20. Could they also bring some type of bag (either a plastic or shopping bag) with their name clearly labelled so we can store their purchases until the end of camp.
If your child is not attending camp, and is not away on a family holiday, they are expected to attend school for the 3 days. They will be asked to complete work assigned to them in another classroom within the school.
Book Week
Book Week is coming up again in Week 5 (18th August to 22nd August). The theme this year is 'Book An Adventure'. Students will be able to dress up in costume on Monday 18th August, choosing a character from an adventurous book. We can't wait to see all the amazing costumes!
On Thursday 21st August, we will welcome Mark Wilson, an award-winning author and illustrator, to speak to the students about reading, writing and the inspiration behind his stories. Mark has won numerous awards for his books, and it will be a fantastic opportunity for the students to hear from a professional author.
