Garden Club Activities

This week, the Year 1 and 2 Planet Savers, our Sustainability Leaders and other enthusiastic students enjoyed the winter sunshine to attend to the gardens around the school.  Students learnt how to distinguish between a weed and a young plant as they tidied up various garden beds. Students highlighted areas around the school that will be targeted for future new planting.

Nude Food Gladiators for 2025

Nude Food in our classrooms is back for 2025! 

We are asking all students to be a Nude Food Gladiator and fight to keep the amount of packaging around the food that comes to school to a minimum and out of landfill.

Nude Food Day is the day when we ask students to bring food to school with NO wrappers on it. As a school community, we are trying to reduce the amount of packaging that food is brought to school in (eg cling wrap, squeezy yoghurt containers, soft plastics, juice poppers and boxes). 

Our aim is to have zero wrappers in every classroom. Please discuss as a family as to how students can bring their favourite foods to school without wrappers, foil or cling wrap. Please note that snap lock bags can be wiped out at home and re-used. We encourage students to take them home for another time and do not put them in the bin.

At snack time on Nude Food Days, the Planet Savers in each class will count the number of wrappers in the bin or in lunch boxes. The Planet Savers will then pass the total onto their classroom teacher so we can keep a track of the class with the lowest number of wrappers. The class that has the lowest number of wrappers over two weeks will be awarded a certificate at assembly and can keep the Nude Food Gladiator Cup for the next two weeks until it is awarded to the next class.

We know that many of you are already bringing your food in containers, with healthy food choices, so keep up the great work at home. 

Nude Food day will be a surprise day each week. Our Sustainability Leaders are looking forward to presenting the first ever NUDE FOOD GLADIATORS certificate and Gladiator Cup to a class at our next whole school Assembly. See if it can be your student's class!
