Chev Need to Knows
25 July 2025
Dear Parents and Carers,
Welcome to Term 3! I write to you today in my capacity as Acting Principal, while Mr Miller is on renewal leave.
It has been wonderful to see the school come alive after the 3 week break with the return of our students - whilst the autumn leaves are long gone, the vibrancy and energy of our students is more than brightening up the campus. I extend my thanks to all of you who have supported your children in returning to school rejuvenated, refreshed, and with smart uniforms and haircuts, demonstrating their pride in being part of our heart-centred community.
Term 3 is an extremely busy term at Chev; we leap straight into ISA tomorrow, and next weekend on Saturday 2 August we host our much-feted annual Winterfest. Extracurricular Sign-ups for the Summer season will take place on Wednesday next week, and I encourage our students to get involved and make the most of the many wonderful opportunities on offer - these are the years for them to try things out, push themselves out of their comfort zone, and forge new bonds with peers who share their interests.
This term is also a particularly special time for our Year 12 students, not only for the obvious reason that they are now barrelling towards their HSC and all that that entails both academically and emotionally, but also because they now have some impressive numbers under their belts: after 13 years of schooling, this is their 51st, and final, term. In a few short weeks, they will begin to traverse the metaphorical bridge from school student to adulthood, out into the big, wide, rapidly-changing world. The whole community wishes them well as they enter this phase of transition.
Back down to earth…
Right to Disconnect
As you may be aware, changes in workplace legislation introduced last year the right for employees to disconnect from work-related communications after regular working hours.
We kindly ask that you respect our staff’s time outside of school hours, understanding that they may not respond to emails during evenings, weekends or holidays. Please allow 24 – 48 hours for teaching staff to respond during a school day around their class times.
The College provides appropriate contact numbers when students are away on retreats or excursions in the case of emergencies.
We appreciate your cooperation in supporting a healthy work environment for our dedicated educators and support staff.
Wishing you an enjoyable weekend,
Rebecca Graham
Acting Principal

The process of Year 11 Student Leadership has commenced. All Year 11 met on Wednesday 23rd July and shared in with a PowerPoint introducing Student leadership, how to apply and the timeline involved.
All Applications are due to Student Services by 3:30pm on Wednesday 30 July with no late applications accepted.
2025/2026 Student Leadership roles will consist of 2 College Captains, 2 College Vice Captains, 12 House Captains, and 18 Portfolio Captains in the areas of Academia, CAPA, Content Creation, Industry and Innovation, Liturgy, Social Justice, Sport, Stewardship, and Student Care. Thank you to the parents and students who took the time to complete the College uniform survey last term. The response was enormous, and we were grateful to receive your feedback.
The next phase of our uniform refresh will feature the sport uniform, with four concept designs being presented. Survey participants can vote on the concepts, a polo shirt, tracksuit and style of tracksuit pants.
Like the new formal Chevalier school uniform, the sports uniform will form part of a phased rollout, beginning with Year 7 in 2027 and being completed by 2029/2030, ensuring families have time to prepare without added financial pressure.
The survey is your invitation to participate in the design phase. We welcome your feedback and encourage you to get involved in this important initiative. The survey link will be sent to all parents via the Orbit app and Parent Lounge this Monday.
We recommend completing the survey on a laptop to view images in full.
In Student Services, throughout this period, you can view printouts of the designs, along with sport uniforms from other schools provided by our supplier to give you a chance to feel fabrics and view styles.
Thank you for your participation and support.
