Term 3 - Week 1
We hope you all had a wonderful and refreshing break from school. Whether you spent the time relaxing at home, exploring, or enjoying activities with family and friends, we trust it was a chance to recharge.
As we begin the new term, we’re excited to see our students return with fresh energy and enthusiasm for learning. There’s a lot to look forward to in the weeks ahead, including swimming, new classroom topics, extracurricular activities, 5/6 camp and upcoming events such as Science and Indonesian events. All will continue to enrich our students learning at MPRPS.
Welcome, Kate Tyson!
We're thrilled to welcome Kate, our new Performing Arts teacher to the team! She brings her creativity, passion, and a wealth of experience to the role and will be working with us from Tuesday to Friday each week.
Welcome Emily Werner!
We’re excited to welcome Emily to the 3/4 team! Emily may already be a familiar face to many of our students, as she has previously worked with us as a CRT. Emily will officially be joining the 3/4SF classroom. We’re thrilled to have her on board and look forward to the experience she brings to our learning community.
This week marked the exciting start of our 2025 swimming program at Aquanation, and it was wonderful to see our students entering into the experience with such enthusiasm.
From the very first session, students demonstrated eagerness to learn and a willingness to challenge themselves in the water. Throughout the week, they began to build confidence, refine their stroke techniques, and improve their breathing and coordination.
It’s always gtreat to witness their progress, and we look forward to seeing their skills continue to grow over the two week program.
Bookings for our upcoming Three-Way Conferences in August are now open. Families are encouraged to log in to Compass to schedule a time with their child’s teacher.
Three-Way Conferences are a valuable opportunity for students, parents/carers, and teachers to come together to discuss progress, celebrate achievements, and set goals for future learning. These conversations help strengthen the partnership between home and school, ensuring every student is supported on their educational journey.
Our Creativity Hub will be open from 3:45 to 4:15 pm on Tuesday and Wednesday on Three Way conference week. Specialist teachers Kate, Sam, Eryn, Jess, and Steph M will be available for informal chats and will also be showcasing student work from Semester 1.
Feel free to drop in before or after your Three-Way Conference. We’d love to see you there!
We are pleased to let you know that NAPLAN results were released this week, and we are proud to share that our school has achieved very pleasing outcomes. Families should have received individual stduent results this week.
We would like to commend all students for the effort and focus they demonstrated during the assessments. These results reflect the hard work of students who applied themselves thoughtfully and with determination, and we’re incredibly proud of their achievements.
While NAPLAN provides a useful snapshot of student learning in literacy and numeracy, it is just one part of a broader picture of our student's progress.
During the school holidays, several important maintenance and improvement projects took place at Mount Pleasant Road Primary School.
Unfortunately, the wet weather over the break affected some planned activities. In particular, the painting of the outdoor courts has been delayed because the conditions were not suitable for this work. .
Several key projects were successfully completed: the carpark asphalt was repaired, ensuring a smoother and safer surface for vehicles and pedestrians, replacement stair nosings were installed on two portable classrooms to address a previous safety compliance issue, Hardcourt 1 received had the installation of timber sleepers and surface toppings, preparing the area ready for use, a new school logo, which has been placed at the school entry, complements the other line markings installed in the courtyard earlier this year.
The official opening of our new building and basketball courts will take place on Monday, 25 August at 9:15 am, with special guest Shaun Leane MP in attendance. This exciting event marks a significant milestone for our community, and we are proud to showcase the newly completed facilities that will serve students, staff, and local residents for years to come. The morning will include a welcome address, a formal ribbon-cutting ceremony, and a speech by Mr. Leane. We warmly invite all members of our community to join us in celebrating this important occasion.
Our next Parents and Friends (P&F) meeting will be held on Wednesday, 30th July from 9:00 to 9:30am. We warmly invite all parents and carers to come along, whether you’re a regular attendee or new to the group.
The P&F plays a vital role in supporting school events, fundraising efforts, and building a strong sense of community. We’re always looking for helping hands, whether it’s volunteering at events, sharing ideas, or just lending your voice in discussions.
If you’re interested in getting involved or just want to hear what’s happening, we’d love to see you there.
Please note that there will be no school on August 13th as our teaching staff will be participating in a Professional Practice Day.
These days are an important part of our school calendar, providing teachers with valuable time for professional learning and collaboration. This years teachers will be observing in a wide range of schools to deepen their ongoing commitment to delivering high-quality education. They will reflect on teaching practices, develop new strategies, and ensure we continue to meet the diverse needs of our students.
Have a great weekend!
