National tree planting day
The whole school has now planted a tree, shrub, bush or ground cover across the school. Every child is responsible for their plants and are looking after them with talking to them and watering. Most students have helped move the tyres, add leaves, compost, dirt, and place mulch around the outside the tyres. The tyres are in place to help the tube stock develop and keep the area warm and hopefully the tubes will be grown enough to take the tyres away in summer time. We used recycled bottles to make tree guards to protect from the wind. The senior students filled out an "adopt a plant" form and how they are going to care for their plants. The junior students received a certificate of their planting day.
P/1 have planted their plants across the side fence and outside their classroom
1/2 have planted their plants in the main walkway from the carpark.
3/4 have planted their plants outside their side door, in the new garden outside the breakfast club and some out the front in the main walkway from the carpark.
4/5 have planted their plants in the new garden outside the breakfast club and around the school.
5/6 have a line of trees across the yard outside their classroom and around the coloured shed. In term 4 we will be making new habitats in that area and the new trees and bushes will help our wildlife.
