From the Principal

Dear Parents,
I am truly honoured and blessed to have been appointed to the role of Principal at St Christopher's Primary. I would like to thank Fr Jacob and Mr Adrian Scutt (MACS) (pictured below) along with the rest of the selection panel for their support and showing confidence in me to lead the school. My experience at St Christopher's this year has been very positive and I am excited about what we can all achieve together in the coming years.
Mr Shane Daveron led this school with great distinction over many years and we will have a chance to farewell him on Friday when we gather for the Nativity and Christmas Carols from 2pm - 3.30pm.
This promises to be a special occasion and I encourage all families to particpate in the End of Year Christmas Celebration to be held on school grounds immediately after we finish the school day. We have some great prizes in the Christmas Raffle so please be sure to buy a ticket to help support the school. Funds will go towards the installation of a new projector in the Hall, new playground items and other learning items to be determined and communicated in the new year.
Reminder:
Wednesday December 17 is the last school day for students. School will finish at 1.00pm.
Grade 6 Luna Park Big Day Out
On Wednesday, December 3rd, in the heat of the summer sun, the year 6 Graduates along with other schools from in and around Melbourne took part in the 'Luna Park Big Day Out'. Riding one of the worlds oldest operating roller coasters, the Scenic Railway, looking at stunning views from the top of ferris wheels and enjoying exhilarating rides, the day was filled with fun, screaming and teachers taking photos. The day ended on St. Kilda Foreshore, where we took group pictures on the beach and caught our ride home.

Grade 3/4 Zoo Excursion Student recounts
On Wednesday the third of December 3/4B and 3/4A went to the Zoo! It was the first time in the whole year that the year threes and fours went on an excursion together. I was very excited to see all the animals! The bus left at 9:00am. It was a very long bus ride because it took one hour to get to the Zoo.
When we got to the Zoo, our tour guide called Simon, took us through the Zoo. First we went to a tanbark area to learn about animals. Then we went to a lush area full of trees to collect data about animals. Then we went to the bird house where we saw many different types of birds. Simon fed the birds by throwing food bits and fish into their enclosure. Next we sat down on some grass and ate our recess. After that, we saw Gorillas and chimpanzees along with some lemurs and lizards. Lastly, we saw the butterfly house. Three butterflies landed on my hat and 2 on my backpack and 5 on my hand. When we were leaving the butterfly house, a butterfly landed on my hat without me knowing and almost went outside of its enclosure. Finally we sat down and ate our lunch. Once we finished eating we got to play in a nearby park until the bus arrived. When the bus arrived we got on the bus extremely tired after all that walking around in the scorching hot sun.

Beep! Beep! honked the bus. 3/4A and 3/4B went to the Melbourne Zoo. I am in 3/4B and the animal that I enjoyed seeing was the lion. I like it because it looks so cool and strong. The sounds that I heard at the Melbourne Zoo exhibit were roaring, rattling and birds singing. A fact I learned during the excursion was that koalas can make sounds using their mouth. While we were walking I saw a baby giraffe, and they were very small compared to the adults. The food my parents packed for me was a hotdog and some crackers. It was so yummy. If I would rate the excursion to the zoo I would rate it a 7/10 because we had to walk for so long. The things we had to pack and wear were a water bottle, lunch box, small backpack, our sports clothes but with your blue polo, sunscreen, and your school hat. When we reached the bus it was like 30 degrees but in the bus it felt cooler. In the bus it was very loud. I don’t know how but some of my friends were sleeping. When we reached school we got out of the bus and there was 30 min left so our teacher let us play in the playground until we went home.
