Performing Arts
Our students have been busy exploring the exciting world of performing arts – music, drama, and dance!
In our performing arts program, students have been exploring a variety of exciting skills and projects.
- Prep students have been learning about sound and the fundamentals of acting, including walking and talking to bring their characters to life.
- Grade 1 and 2 students have been busy filming their dance performances, showcasing their understanding of different cultures through movement and expression.
- Grades 3 and 4 have worked collaboratively to create indigenous scripts, incorporating musical instruments and acting to tell meaningful stories.
Grades 5 and 6 are in the final stages of preparing their performances, filming their acts to showcase their hard work.
Throughout all grades, students have been rehearsing for the upcoming school concert, with some classes designing and creating their own props, while others are practicing with the props they’ve made to enhance their performances. It’s been an inspiring journey of creativity, teamwork, and self-expression!
Physical Education
On Friday, the 4th of August, students from grades 3 to 6 participated in our Athletics day. The day was originally scheduled for the Tuesday, but due to inclement weather and a sodden oval, it had to be rescheduled. Thankfully, we had glorious sunshine on the Friday. All students did their best, participating in a range of athletic events - both track and field. The other events have been completed during Physical Education classes. At the next assembly the results will be announced, with ribbons presented to students that finished in the top three for their events, and the overall house winner being named. Well done to all students for their efforts.
Next week students in grades 3-6 will be competing in the hoop time competition in Warragul. The students from grades 3 and 4 will compete on Tuesday, August 12th and the students from grades 5 and 6 will compete on Thursday, August 14th. Please note that the 3/4 group will need to be at school by 8:10am for a prompt 8:20am departure. The 5/6 group will need to be at school by 8:45am for a prompt 9:00am departure.
ART
In the 5/6 grades we have made a very challenging art work;
You take a lolly wrapper, zoom in on it with a self made viewfinder.
Make a draft, to get rid of any misunderstandings, and then draw the design on a piece of board.
The idea is to make the artwork look as much like the original wrapper as possible, including the lettering.
Another hard part of this assignment was that only a small section of the wrapper needed to be visible.
The final art work of some students stood out and as an extra reward for their effort, they received an actual bar or lolly bag (of their choice) of what they had painted.
By the way, do you remember this picture from the last newsletter?
Are you sure you had a good look???
