Course Counselling
This term we introduced an extensive Course Counselling process, which included information evenings for our current Year 8, 9 and 10 families and counselling sessions for our current Year 9 and 10 students and their parents and carers.
These sessions were designed to support students in making well-informed decisions about their learning pathways, including subject selections, VCE and VCE VM courses, and elective choices. Over the two days, families had the opportunity to sit down with a member of the leadership team to discuss their interests, goals, strengths and possible career pathways, while also gaining a clearer understanding of the structure and requirements of the senior years of schooling. CSC offers such a diverse range of subjects, catering for all interests and pursuits, and to share this with our students and families was exciting.
The response from our community was overwhelmingly positive, with more than 85% of families attending across the two days. This strong level of engagement demonstrates just how invested our families are in the future learning of their young people, and how invested our young people are in their future. Importantly, the sessions ensured that our students are now in a far better position to take ownership of their learning journey, supported by informed families who understand the options available. We see this as a vital step in building student agency and setting the stage for success in the years ahead.
Year 12
At the other end of the secondary journey, our Year 12 students are rapidly approaching the finish line. With just a couple of weeks of classes remaining, their attention is now firmly on preparing for final exams. This is a moment of real significance—the culmination of 13 years of schooling. It represents the dedication, persistence, and resilience of our students, supported along the way by their teachers and families. The next few weeks will be challenging, but they are also filled with opportunity, as students consolidate their learning and prepare to demonstrate all that they have achieved.
As a school, we are incredibly proud of the effort, determination, and spirit shown by all our students—whether they are just beginning to map out their pathways in Year 9 and 10, or preparing to take their final steps as Year 12s. These milestones remind us of the shared purpose we have as a learning community: to guide, challenge, and celebrate our young people as they grow into their future selves.
New learning spaces
In term four, students will be preparing for the move into their new sub-schools. It is such an exciting opportunity to design and create learning spaces that better reflect the needs of our students at each stage of their journey. By shaping spaces that encourage peer connection, support both individual and collaborative learning, and foster greater student agency, we are ensuring that our environment actively supports the growth of confident, capable, and connected learners. We are calling on our students to be directly involved in creating these new sub-schools!
