Term 3 Reflection
Term 3 has been as incredible term at CSC. We have delivered regular Value of the Week initiatives to continue the work high expectations and acknowledgements for our young people. With a focus on addressing truancy, students are in class engaging in learning and classrooms are humming. Walking around the college you feel a sense of calm and positivity which is due to staff and students commitment to making CSC a safe and inclusive environment for all.
The Wellbeing team have been excitedly working behind the scenes, analysing data and developing clear actions for Term 4 and beyond. With a dedication to provide our young people with the best supports we will be implementing an Individual Case Management tool through Compass. This will guide Mentors, Year Level Leaders, Wellbeing staff and Sub-School Leaders to ensure students needs are met and their learning journey is accurately supported. In addition, to enhance the wellbeing and engagement needs of specific year levels, the wellbeing team have identified 5 key actions that will be rolled out over the next 18 months. This will include workshops and training for students and staff as well as events celebrating important rites of passage.

Doofe Cafe - Re-engaging students through Hands-On Training and Education
Castlemaine Community House in partnership with Castlemaine Secondary College have successfully delivered a first of its kind pilot program aimed at developing vocational skills and fostering wellbeing in young people disengaged with school.
Joint funded through VicHealth Growing Healthy Communities grant and Schools Focus Youth Services, Castlemaine Youth Connect is providing a supportive learning environment to help guide students back toward formal education, vocational training and employment.
As part of this initiative, local Year 10 students will run a pop-up cafe at the Castlemaine Community House on Tuesday September 9 and put their newly developed hospitality, design, customer service and business enterprise skills into action.
The program has been informed by community consultation, which revealed a lack of dedicated youth services in the area, safe spaces for young people and extra-curricular activities that cater to those on flexible part-time schedules.
The investment has made it possible for Castlemaine Community House to recruit dedicated Youth Project Worker, Kyan Laslett O’Brien, who over the past few months has been working closely with students through a variety of hands-on programs designed to rebuild confidence and connection.
