Parent, Caregiver and Guardian Opinion Survey

Reminder to participate in the 2025 Parent / Caregiver / Guardian Opinion Survey

Our school is conducting the annual Parent / Caregiver / Guardian Opinion Survey and is seeking your feedback. The survey, offered by the Department of Education, is designed to assist schools in gaining an understanding of families’ perceptions of school climate, student behaviour and student engagement.

We sent you an invitation to complete the survey via Compass.  You will find details on how to complete the survey and a link in your Compass newsfeed.  If you cannot find the link, please reach out and we can resend this invitation to you.

The Parent / Caregiver / Guardian Opinion Survey will remain open online until Friday 19 September 2025.

Your opinions are important to us and will contribute to identifying areas for improvement and professional development needs in the school, to target school planning and improvement strategies. The department will use the results from the survey for research purposes and to improve outcomes for students.

The survey is being conducted online and only takes 20 minutes to complete.

If you require assistance in completing the survey, please reach out to the general office if you require assistance in another language.

Attendance

As we step into spring and approach the end of Term 3, it’s a great time to reflect on how consistent school attendance helps set students up for success — not just this term, but for the rest of the year.

With warmer weather and lighter mornings, it's the perfect opportunity to build positive routines and finish the term on a strong note. Every day of learning counts, and regular attendance helps students stay engaged, confident, and connected to their classmates and teachers.

We understand that occasional illness or unforeseen circumstances may keep students home. When that happens, please ensure absences are reported promptly so we can continue to support your child’s learning.

Let’s keep working together to maintain strong attendance and make the most of the final weeks of Term 3.

If your student is absent due to illness or any other reason, please record the absence by calling Kurnai College’s absence hotline on (03) 5165 0600 – option 1.

Uniform

As the weather begins to warm up and we move into spring, it’s a great time to revisit our school uniform expectations and introduce some exciting new additions now available to students in Years 7–10.

Wearing the correct school uniform each day continues to be an important part of our school culture. It promotes pride, a sense of belonging, and equality across our campus. With the change in season, students now have more flexible and comfortable uniform options, while still representing Kurnai College with pride.

We’re pleased to share several updates to our uniform range:

  • New Summer Dress – A cooler option ideal for the warmer months.
  • Long Sleeve Rugby Polo – A great addition for layering during unpredictable spring mornings.
  • Indigenous Polo Shirt – Coming soon! A striking design that reflects and celebrates culture, identity, and community.
  • New Sky Blue Sports Polo – Coming soon! This will replace the current navy version.

As we prepare to phase in the new sky blue sports polo, the current navy sports polo is now heavily discounted at Lowes while stocks last. Families are welcome to take advantage of this offer in the meantime.

These items are available for purchase through Lowes, and we encourage families to explore these options as we head into the final term of the year.

The old dress style and sports polo can continue to be worn. Please continue to ensure students wear the full, appropriate uniform each day, including correct footwear and outerwear, as outlined in our uniform policy. If you have any questions or need support with accessing uniform items, don’t hesitate to contact your student's Team Leader or the campus office.

Code Red Fire Danger

A reminder to all families that on days of Code Red in the West & South Gippsland Fire Zone, all campuses will be closed.

We ask families to be aware of this in preparation for when summer returns.
