As Term 3 draws to a close, it’s been another busy and successful time at Kurnai College. Our senior students are now turning their focus to final assessments and exam preparation, and we are proud of the effort and commitment they continue to show as they work toward their goals.

This term has also highlighted the incredible talents of our students beyond the classroom. At the recent Latrobe Valley Eisteddfod, Kurnai students performed exceptionally well, showcasing both their creativity and dedication to the arts. On the sporting field, our teams have also achieved great results in a variety of competitions, displaying skill, teamwork, and determination. A special mention to our staff who coach and lead these teams and give up their time to ensure our students get these great experiences.

Learning has extended well beyond the school grounds too, with a range of engaging excursions and camps taking place across the term. These experiences have given students valuable opportunities to broaden their learning, strengthen friendships, and build confidence.

With the warmer weather returning and the outlook for the end of the year looking bright, we look forward to continuing this momentum into Term 4 and celebrating the many achievements of our students

Primary Schools Tour

Over the past two weeks, our music students have had the wonderful opportunity to visit several local primary schools, including Churchill, Churchill North, Boolarra, Yinnar, Morwell Central, and Morwell Park. The program featured a wide range of musical items, carefully designed to engage and inspire younger audiences. These visits were not only a celebration of our students’ talents but also an important way to strengthen connections with our local schools. We’d like to sincerely thank our local primary schools for welcoming us, giving us the opportunity to share music with your students, and enthusiastically engaging in the performances—it was fantastic to see everyone joining in and having such a great time!

Sports News

With the beginning of a new term, our students have already continued to proudly represent Kurnai College in a range of interschool sporting events. They’ve once again stepped up with great commitment and embraced the challenges of competitive sport.

Wellington District Basketball

During week 7, on Tuesday the Year 7/8 Girls and on Thursday, the Year 7/8 Boys basketball teams headed to Gippsland Regional Indoor Sports Stadium (GRISS), in Traralgon to compete in the Wellington District Round –  and all teams delivered performances to be proud of.

⛹️ Year 7 Girls

Starting strong with a commanding win, followed by a thrilling 20–20 draw, the girls finished the day with 1 win, 1 draw, and 1 loss. Each game showed improvement, consistency, and determination, and the team can be very proud of their efforts.

⛹️‍♀️ Year 8 Girls

The girls finished with 1 win and 2 losses, but their teamwork, energy, and communication were highlights of the day. With constant support for each other and encouragement from the bench, they displayed great resilience and team spirit.

⛹️ Year 7 Boys

The boys gave their all across both games, showing plenty of effort and teamwork. In one match, they were in it until the final moments before Sale College sank a clutch three-pointer. It was a tough loss, but the boys should be proud of how close they pushed their opponents.

⛹️‍♂️ Year 8 Boys

Splitting their two games with 1 win and 1 loss, the Year 8 boys showed energy, resilience, and excellent teamwork. Their commitment and effort throughout the day were fantastic.

👏 Congratulations to all students for their grit, sportsmanship, and representing Kurnai College with pride!
