As we move into the final stretch of Term 3, our VCE students are entering one of the busiest and most important times of the year. Over the coming weeks, students will be preparing for revision lectures, completing practice exams, and fine-tuning their knowledge in the lead-up to the October exam period.

It is a challenging and demanding time, but also one filled with opportunity. I encourage all students to make the most of the resources and support available, to seek feedback from their teachers, and to use practice exams as a way to build confidence and identify areas for improvement.

Equally important is looking after themselves during this period. Maintaining a healthy balance with good sleep, exercise, and rest will help ensure they are in the best position to perform at their best when exams begin.

We are proud of the commitment and resilience our VCE students continue to demonstrate and look forward to supporting them through these final weeks of preparation.

Careers

Subject Selection for 2026

This week, all Year 11 VCE students begun the process of selecting their subjects for Year 12 in 2026.  Currently, most Year 11 students are enrolled in six VCE subjects. In Year 12, students typically reduce this to five subjects.  To support a smooth transition, we recommend the following steps:

  1. Speak with subject teachers if there are any concerns or questions about continuing specific subjects in Year 12.
  2. Discuss options with parents/guardians and the Careers Team to explore pathways and subject choices.
  3. Submit subject selections during English classes in the week of 8th September.
  4. Receive final timetables in Term 4.

If any subject clashes arise once the 2026 timetable is finalised, the Careers Team will speak with students to discuss options. Students who are unsure about their subjects for 2026 are encouraged to see Cherie or Suze at Careers.

Art Gallery Excursion

VCE Art Making & Exhibiting Gallery Excursion

Our Year 11 and 12 Art students recently had the incredible opportunity to visit the Gippsland Regional Gallery, where they explored the stunning works of renowned artist William Turner.

As Turner has been a key focus in their studies this year, seeing his art up close offered invaluable insight into his masterful use of light, dynamic techniques, and the powerful legacy he's left on the art world.

The excursion not only deepened students’ understanding of Turner's work but also sparked fresh inspiration for their own creative journeys. A truly enriching day that brought classroom learning to life!

Morwell Magistrates Court Excursion

VCE Unit 1+2 Legal Studies Court Excursion

On Thursday 21st of July, the VCE Unit 2 Legal Studies class attended an excursion to the Morwell Magistrates Court as part of their studies on the principles of justice and remedies within the criminal justice system. Students were warmly welcomed by a magistrate and other important personnel, with the opportunity to ask questions about the role of the magistrate and the day-to-day workings of the court. This provided them with a deeper understanding of how the legal system operates and the responsibilities of those who work within it.

Following this discussion, students observed a number of criminal cases being heard in court. Watching these proceedings firsthand gave them the opportunity to see the principles they have been studying in action, from fairness and equality before the law to the practical application of sanctions. This excursion not only strengthened their knowledge of the Victorian legal system but also given the chance to explore future careers in the field of law, justice, and public service.
