STEAM News

Year 3
The Year 3 students have been growing mushrooms in STEAM to explore the difference between living and non-living things. They've had lots of fun watching how much the mushrooms grow each week and have really enjoyed tracking their progress.
Year 4
Year 4 have been learning all about how seeds get dispersed in nature. They were then challenged to design one way a seed could travel using wind power, the wind power on this occasion was an air conditioner! Their seed dispersal unit was made out of one piece of A4 paper and they were allowed to use sticky tape to attach their seed. They then measured how far their seed travelled when placed in front of the air conditioning unit.
Year 6
The Year 6 students have been learning all about biomes. They are currently finishing their research on one biome and next week we will begin coding the information in Scratch (a coding platform). The posters will then be connected to a Makey Makey, a simple circuit board to make them interactive. Makey Makey combined with coding in Scratch will enable students to record a voiceover for the poster to add extra information and create an interactive project.
