In the PE classroom this week…
With rehearsals well underway for the Matilda production, our timetable has been a little flexible! As a result, some students are still finishing assessments from our last unit of work, which we will continue this week. Alongside this, students will take part in activities that focus on teamwork, skill development, and in particular, improving their throwing technique.
Prep
Students will be finishing off their Line Monster, adding in eyes, a mouth and accessories to bring it to life!
Grade 1 and 2
Students will be continuing to weave on their paper plate loom, learning how to add colours by tying knots and practising the over and under weaving technique.
Grade 3
Students will begin to design a mosaic artwork being inspired by 'Australia'.
Grade 4
Student will be creating a ceramic chicken to link in with their work in SAKG. They will focus on the ‘slip and score’ joining of clay.
Grade 5
Students will continue creating their reptile using the felting technique, focussing on blending colours and adding in background.
Grade 6
Students will be making a gift for their Dad’s for Father’s Day. They will also be continuing to work on their 3D names on their street art fence, focussing on creating a realistic shadow and adding in pop art details and designs.
Grade 1 & 2:
Students will investigate how things move, through the forces of push and pull. Together, they will search for things that move, then use arrows to show the direction of pushes and pulls.
Grade 3 & 4:
Students will look at the different types of seed dispersal of plants. They will create a model to demonstrate explosive seed dispersal, and begin to explore the use of forces in nature and simple machines.
Grade 5 & 6:
This week, students will finish their digital presentations about their chosen habitat. They will include information about how living things, including plants and animals, have adapted to survive in their specific habitat.
A big thank you to Mat Stone and his family for their generous donation of four air fryers to our Stephanie Alexander Kitchen Garden Program. These will be a wonderful addition to our kitchen, allowing students to explore new recipes, learn different cooking techniques and enjoy preparing healthy meals together. We are so grateful for this thoughtful gift, which will help make our cooking sessions even more engaging and fun!
