Reminder: Final Week of Gymnastics Program
Week five of the Prep to Year 2 gymnastics program is this Thursday. This will be the final session, giving students a chance to put together everything they’ve learned while enjoying a variety of fun activities that strengthen balance, coordination, and confidence.
Please ensure your child wears comfortable clothing suitable for movement. We can’t wait to celebrate their progress and finish the program on a high!
In the classroom this week…
Prep
This week marks the final lesson in our unit on underarm throwing. Students will take part in a fun and supportive assessment where they can show what they have learned and how their skills have developed over the past few weeks.
During the lesson, students will:
The focus will be on accuracy, teamwork, and applying strong technique in more dynamic, game-like situations. This assessment gives students the chance to celebrate their progress while reinforcing key skills such as communication, collaboration, and confidence in active play.
We are excited to see how far the students have come as they complete this unit!
Year 1 & 2
Our Year 1 & 2 students will be wrapping up their basketball unit with a focus on ball control. They’ll have the chance to put their learning into action through fun, small-group drills, showcasing the skills they’ve developed over the past weeks.
Year 3 & 4
Our Year 3 & 4 students will be wrapping up their basketball unit with a focus on ball control. They’ll take part in small-group drills to sharpen their skills, and will also enjoy some short, friendly games to put those skills into practice in a game-like setting.
Year 5 & 6
Our Year 5 & 6 students will finish their basketball unit by demonstrating their skills in full game situations, using real match play to showcase the techniques and strategies they’ve been practising.
Prep
Students will continue to learn their production songs; When I Grow Up and Miracle. These tracks can be found here to help practise with your child/ren. Students will continue to rehearse the actions and singing to both of these songs. They will also learn their position on the stage and practise entering and exiting.

Grade 1 and 2
students will be exploring the idea of setting in drama. They will use their imagination to think about what makes a setting unique, including what it looks like, who or what belongs there, and what kinds of events might happen in that place. Alongside this, students will also be practise being an audience. They may watch rehearsal runs of Matilda Jr. and practise showing respect, focus, and encouragement for the performers.
Grade 3 and 4
Students will review their Matilda Jr. songs - Chokey Chant, Hammer, School Song and Smell of Rebellion and Revolting Children. They will also learn their position on the stage and practise entering and exiting.

Students will continue to build confidence in singing and moving in their Matilda Jr. songs;

AUSLAN
All Grades
What a great time the children are having relearning and learning new sigs in AUSLAN.
Grade 1 and 2
Students will be re introduced to the signs around family. ‘How many people in your family?” “I have ___ people in my family.” They will also learn new signs for the various members of their family.
Grade 3 and 4
Students will be re introduced to the signs for different colours. We will play colour bingo to reinforce their understanding. Students will also be introduced to shape signs.
Grade 5 and 6
Last week the students were introduced to the acronym HOLME. They explored the formation of signs using the 5 elements: handshape; orientation; location; movement and expression. They will continue to investigate this knowledge while participating in various games and interactive activities.
Grade 1 & 2:
Students will handle and observe real plant specimens, noticing roots, bulbs, stems, leaves, flowers and fruits. They will then create groups and classifications based on the observable features of th.
Grade 3 & 4:
Students will create a model of an insect, ensuring it meets the requirements of the brief. They will then use these models in an experiment that will demonstrate how insects pollinate flowers.
Grade 5 & 6:
This week, students will continue creating a website about a chosen habitat. They will consider how they will present the environmental conditions of their habitat and the living things within it. In the coming weeks, students will learn about how living things have adapted to survive in specific habitats.
