The 1/2 Briars Excursion

We had a fabulous time exploring the beautiful Briars on our 1/2 excursion. It was exciting to take our learning outside of the classroom and experience some real life wetlands and habitats. The students were immersed in exploring various ways that they could care for the natural environment and enjoyed a hands on approach to their investigations. On our return to school, we wrote some recounts about our experiences.
On Friday 16th August, FM and DM, also known as the 1/2's went to The Briars in a big blue bus. We did a scavenger hunt, then it was recess. After that, we did two activities. First we looked for animals in the dirty water with a magnifying glass, then we got clay and seeds and rolled it into a ball. After lunch we drew a landscape and rolled down a hill.

On a cold, windy Friday in August, we went to The Briars in Mt Martha. We went with all our 1/2 friends and teachers. We went on a bus and I sat next to Savannah. We went to The Briars to learn about natural, man-made and managed features of places. We drew a picture of natural features.

Last Friday the 1/2's went to The Briars and it was fun. We got to see an eel and we did a treasure hunt. One of the people who worked there made us sit on tables and she tipped dirty water in a bowl. There was a bug in the bowl and it was a backswimmer. We also drew lots of plants and we rolled down a hill. We made a seed bomb and then we went back to the home base. When we were walking back, we saw a joey.

Last Friday we went on an excursion. It was so fun. We went to The Briars with all of the Year 1/2's. We went on a bus and I sat next to Annika. I learnt about natural, man-made and managed features. First we did a scavenger hunt about woodlands and wetlands. Next, we made a seed-bomb and it will grow into long grass. I had lots of fun.

Last Friday all of the 1/2's went on a big, shiny blue and white bus. The driver's name was Trevor. We saw a wallaby in a bush. We were trying to see a bird. We made seed balls out of seeds and clay. Then we rolled it together. We walked up the hill to the homestead and rolled down the hill.
