CHECK OUT OUR BOOK WEEK PARADE POST...

STAFFING NEWS...

I would like to share with you that I will be taking some Long Service Leave commencing Friday, September 5.  I will be away for the last two weeks of term, and during this time Kate will step into the role of Acting Principal.

I will be travelling with my husband and look forward to some time away to rest and recharge. I am very grateful to the community, staff and leadership team for their ongoing support, which makes it possible to take this time knowing the school is in such capable hands.

Please continue to direct any questions, concerns or celebrations to Kate during my absence. I look forward to returning refreshed and ready for the exciting start to Term 4, which will include the Art Show, a Christmas Carols evening and many other wonderful events that bring our community together.

THANK YOU, THANK YOU, THANK YOU!

A huge thank you to all of the families who came along to our recent Working Bee. Your time, energy and generosity made a tremendous difference to our school environment.

Together we were able to:

  • Refresh the tanbark along the James Street fence
  • Plant new plants along the east side of the playground
  • Refill the (very depleted) sandpit
  • Weed in the backyard
  • Knock out shelving in the canteen to create a new space for our Pre-Loved Uniform shop
  • Build a boat (what a creation!)
  • Sand and stain our Teepees
  • Paint our school car
  • And complete hundreds of other incidental jobs that keep our school looking and functioning at its best

It was a wonderful day of community spirit in action. We are so grateful for the teamwork, laughter, and shared commitment to making St Joseph’s an even more welcoming place for our children to learn and play.

A special thank you to Kathryn for her incredible organisation of the morning. She did a fantastic job planning the list of tasks, shopping for supplies and coordinating everyone on the day, ensuring we achieved so much together.  Thank you also to Emmerson, who kindly organised our morning tea, to Ms Lucy for her wonderful support in her role as one of our Sustainability Leaders, and to Kate for her generous help and for providing music to keep our spirits high while we worked. Your contributions added so much to the success of the morning

Thank you once again — we couldn’t have done it without all of you!

Whilst I am on the theme of 'Thank You' - I would like to thank Parthena Cutrone who has been busily reaching out to local businesses on behalf of our school.   Thanks to her efforts, she has been able to secure a wonderful donation from Bunnings – a brand-new BBQ to replace our old, very dilapidated one.

Mr Steven, together with some of our senior students, have assembled the BBQ - just in time for our Father's Day Breakfast!!

SACRAMENT of EUCHARIST

Congratulations to the following children who received the Sacrament of Eucharist on Saturday.  We shared a beautiful celebration and the children were so very well prepared and reverent throughout the Mass.

We congratulate each of the children and their families on this significant milestone, and we thank our Middle Teachers – Mr Rooney, Ms Julia and Mrs Thwaites – for preparing and supporting the children so beautifully.  A special thank you also to Bernadette Harney, who prepared the Mass and coordinated the celebration so beautifully.

📚BOOK WEEK - What a Celebration! 📚

What a fabulous Book Week we had! Our parade was a highlight, with so many creative and colourful costumes on display.  A big thank you to our staff for the amazing effort they put into “getting into the theme” and dressing up alongside the children – the joy and excitement were contagious!

We are also very grateful to our parents and families for helping the children prepare their costumes and join in the fun.  It was a wonderful way to celebrate a love of reading together.

This year’s theme, “Book an Adventure!”, inspired so much imagination and enthusiasm across the school.  A special highlight was our author visit, which was thoroughly enjoyed by all the children and brought stories to life in such an engaging way.

Thank you to everyone who helped make Book Week such a memorable celebration of books, imagination, and community!

Thank you to Mrs Thwaites and Ms Franca for oganising this wonderful experience for our children.

DISTRICT ATHLETICS

On Monday St Joseph's competed in the District Athletics competition.  Once again, our students demonstrated exceptional sportsmanship and excellent behaviour throughout the event. They cheered on their teammates and encouraged each other, showing excellent sportsmanship throughout the day.  We are incredibly proud of the way they represented our school, not just through their athletic achievements, but through their kindness, fairness, and team spirit.

A message from 'IntoWork Reception' regarding parking in the car park off James St.

I write to inform you that we have called the council regarding parents parking in the permit zone.  We understand that it can be busy in the mornings and drop off is important, but we've received multiple complaints regarding the parking lot being filled when our staff is arriving to work, leading them to not be able to park in a permit zone they have permits for. We've called the council and suggested an officer or council member to be at the permit zone between 8am and 9am. We thank you for your understanding in this manner, and appreciate the efforts you've made so far in the issue. -IntoWork Reception
