Book Week

Sarah Fletcher (Leading Teacher – English) and Chrissy Chiodo (Library)

Earlier this term we had an amazing week at EPS celebrating all things Book Week! It was wonderful to see our whole school community come together to share in the joy of reading and storytelling. A big thank you to our amazing parents/carers for their support throughout the week – helping create incredible book week costumes, coming along to the Book Parade, and supporting our Book Fair by purchasing books.

An Adventurous Book Parade

This year’s Book Week theme, ‘Book an Adventure,’ inspired our students and staff to let their imaginations run wild and dive into the magical worlds that books open up. Everyone embraced the opportunity to bring their favourite literary characters to life for our Book Parade, which kicked off our celebrations with a burst of colour and creativity, featuring costumes from mythical creatures to well-loved classics.

Our Year 6 Library Captains were instrumental in making the parade a success. They not only helped organise the event but also faced the challenging task of judging the best costumes – a very tough job given the incredible effort on display! We are thrilled to announce this year’s winners, each of whom received a voucher from Avenue Bookstore:

  • Prep – Raf E
  • Year 1 – Luna B
  • Year 2 – Dylan R
  • Year 3 – Elsie K and Angus T
  • Year 4 – Ben S
  • Year 5/6 – Lachie P
  • Most Creative and Crafty Award – Sofia W, Ebony W, Chloe W, Georgia C

Congratulations to all our winners and to every student who participated – you all made the parade a truly memorable event.

The Book Fair

The excitement continued in our Library, which was transformed into a bustling bookstore for our fabulous Book Fair. Thanks to our local bookstore, Avenue Bookstore, we were able to offer a fantastic selection of books, including magical picture books, gripping chapter books, beautiful non-fiction texts, joke books and much more. There certainly was something to inspire readers of all ages and interests!

Each class had the opportunity to visit the Book Fair and create a “wishlist” of books to take home to parents/carers.

We would like to express our gratitude to our families for their generosity. Your support at the Book Fair has enabled EPS to receive a percentage voucher from Avenue Bookstore, which we will use to purchase exciting new books to enrich our classrooms and library. This means more adventures, knowledge and stories for our students to enjoy throughout the year.

Book Week 2025 was an incredible celebration of imagination and learning, and we cannot wait to see where our reading journey takes us next!
