School Council Report

Hello School Community!
We're thrilled to share highlights from our recent meetings, brimming with positive news and exciting plans for the future.
School Review:
Our recent school review painted a vibrant picture of success! The process, involving thorough data analysis, self-evaluation, and classroom observations, confirmed what we already know: our school is thriving! Key strengths highlighted include consistent high performance across year levels and exceptional wellbeing support for our students. While we celebrate these achievements, the review also provided valuable insights to guide our future growth.
The New School Strategic Plan (SSP): A Vision for the Future
Based on the review's findings and community input, we've developed a new SSP for the next four years, focusing on:
- Maintaining Excellence: Building upon our existing successes in literacy, numeracy, and wellbeing.
- Targeted Growth: Focusing on supporting our middle cohort to achieve even greater progress in literacy and numeracy.
- Wellbeing Enhancement: Maintaining our high standards of wellbeing support and fostering a culture of student "upstanders."
Our vision statement remains "Safe, valued, and supported," reflecting our unwavering commitment to our students' holistic development. We also heard loud and clear the community's desire for more frequent, concise communication – a goal we're actively working towards.
The school review and the new SSP have been approved by the Council President, paving the way for exciting developments in the years to come.
Beyond the Classroom:
Prep 2026: Strong enrolments for Prep in 2026 have been received with placement offers now underway. We are delighted by the consistent feedback received from families during school tours about the positive sentiments of EPS within the community.
Buildings and Grounds: Progress continues on several projects, including the fencing of the staff car park near Brickwood Hall to address safety concerns, and the successful completion of Prep classroom painting. A grant submission for additional improvements is also underway.
Valuable Volunteers: The Heart of Our Community: Our school's extracurricular activities and programs rely heavily on the dedication and support of our wonderful volunteers. There is a deep appreciation of the time and effort our volunteers contribute, recognising that commitments can be challenging to manage. To make volunteering easier, we are trialling a system through Compass where all attending parents are ‘invited’ to volunteer. You can view and accept your invitation through Compass.
Building Resilience: A parent/Carer Connection Session
Our second Parent/Carer Connection session was held on week 4, focusing on building and enhancing resilience, with guest speaker CRAMLI providing practical support for families facing challenges like school refusal and separation anxiety. This session is open to all families and offers valuable tools for real-life situations. Keep an eye out for more Parent/Carer Connection sessions coming soon!
- Parents and Carers Association: Exciting events are planned, including walking sessions, a movie afternoon, a parent/carer party, and a much-anticipated hot jam donut van at our end-of-year celebration!
Best of luck to all our students participating in the upcoming Beachside Division District Athletics carnival on 27th August! Keep an eye out for the upcoming information on celebrating our fathers and carers at the gratitude stall and coffee morning this term.
