Holy Week – A Time of Reflection and Renewal
As we journey toward the most sacred time in our Church calendar, Holy Week invites us to pause, pray and open our hearts to the story of Jesus’ love and sacrifice. It is a time to walk closely with Him, from the joy of Palm Sunday to the sorrow of Good Friday and finally to the hope and triumph of Easter Sunday.
Palm Sunday marks Jesus’ entry into Jerusalem, He is greeted with palm branches and hosannas. It reminds us to welcome Christ into our own hearts with the same joy and humility.
On Holy Thursday, we remember the Last Supper, when Jesus shared bread and wine with His disciples and gave us the gift of the Eucharist. It is a moment that calls us to serve others with love and compassion, just as Jesus washed the feet of His friends.
Good Friday brings quiet reflection and gratitude as we recall Jesus’ great sacrifice. This solemn day invites us to look inward, to pray, forgive and renew our commitment to live with faith and kindness.
Throughout Holy Week, our school community will share in several significant celebrations. On Monday morning, Year One will lead our Palm Sunday liturgy during assembly. On Tuesday, students will participate in a Holy Thursday classroom reflection, and on Wednesday, each class will journey through the first ten Stations of the Cross before we gather together in the church at 12:30pm to complete the remaining stations. These experiences invite our students to reflect deeply on Jesus’ journey and the love He shares with us all. A heartfelt thank you to Miss Perera for leading our community in these special celebrations.
As we prepare for these sacred days, I encourage you to take time to pray together as a family, show generosity to those in need and attend the Holy Week masses within your parish community. Participating in these celebrations deepens our connection with God and helps us experience the true meaning of Easter.
Easter Sunday bursts forth with joy and life. Jesus’ resurrection reminds us that love is stronger than death, and hope always has the final word. We look forward to celebrating this joyous season together at the beginning of next term with an Easter liturgy on Monday, 20th April, hosted by Year Four.
Wishing all our families a safe, peaceful and blessed holiday filled with hope and renewal.
Warm regards
